Just started watching this movie on YouTube. I don't know if this has been posted before.
Dogma Full Movie HD 1080p
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxT7y2Sokt0
What do you think about this subject mater ?
The film's irreverent treatment of Catholicism and the Catholic Church triggered considerable controversy, even before its opening. The Catholic League denounced it as blasphemy. Organized protests delayed its release in many countries and led to at least two death threats against Smith.
The story revolves around two fallen angels who plan to employ an alleged loophole in Catholic dogma to return to Heaven after being cast out by God; but as existence is founded on the principle that God is infallible, their success would prove God wrong and thus undo all creation. The last scion and two prophets are sent by the seraph Metatron to stop them.

Since you asked:
Some folks who know me might say that I'm pretty serious about my Catholicism, and I found the whole movie to be a thoroughly enjoyable comedic fantasy. (I've seen it 2 1/2 x's.) In my considered opinion, the choice of actors to play the various parts was inspired, and uniquely "irreverently" enjoyable, every single one of them, in my estimation, and I particularly enjoyed the concept of having "God" make an appearance as a mischievous woman wearing a tutu. That aspect alone was worth the "price-of-admission" and was a special treat for the imagination and personal religious convictions and outlook. The whole story was one great romp of imagination into a realm that can use a tickle of playfulness, at times.

I have no opinion on the subject mater. However, I found the movie to be totally hilarious and I fully agree with Murph's "The whole story was one great romp of imagination into a realm that can use a tickle of playfulness". One of my favorites; 13th apostle whose name was.....oh, I forget.
He still digs humanity, but it bothers Him to see the shit that gets carried out in His name - wars, bigotry, televangelism. But especially the factioning of all the religions. He said humanity took a good idea and, like always, built a belief structure on it.
Having beliefs isn't good?
I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier...
If a religion is so threatened by being made fun of now and again, then it really is not much of a religion, and is probably more of money making business that takes itself too seriously and is bent on self-protection of that business as opposed to being about it's religious activities.

Re: Favorite Movies
I remember Joseph Campbell saying that the three great Western religions are overly concretized. When I hear this silliness about transubstantiation, I know what he means. Jesus tried to relate symbolically, with his parables, but that didn't get him very far.
It's been a few years since I've seen Dogma. All I remember, is the one angel wanting to die. I feel the same way, much of the time. At the end, he asked God (Alanis Morissett), and was granted his wish.

The short-subjects little video of the rescue of the raccoon was a nice little trip.

Unfortunately the majority haven't figured it out yet. They need a movie or social media to inform them.

Roy,
I realize that I don't know much about you except that you seem to have an interest in trains and that you seem to have problems in your life that you express at times as you seem to be saying that you would rather be dead. If you read my posts you probably know much more about me than I and others know about you. I still wonder why some folks won't identify where they live or their name.
Well, just so everyone knows about my present life I will state it here. I was born in eastern Ohio, went to college in Kentucky and taught music in Ohio, Kentucky and Georgia for 43 years full time and 6 years part-time. After I retired I worked part-time for a music store. I also played tuba and conducted as an amateur and a professional for over 60 years. I am 84 and retired from teaching full time in May of 1999. I retired from playing and conducting in
2009 and working with the music store just this year, 2018.
I was relatively satisfied with my career. I liked small schools and middle and high school students. I have been married for 64+ years and have four kids who have done well with their lives.
For the last @35 years I have had many problems with my legs yet found ways to keep going through marching band rehearsals and performances. I had skin cancer on my upper lip and was told that I would not be able to p;ay again but somehow I found a way. Arthritis has been a factor the last 25 years and was a major factor in deciding when it was time to retire. I have worn glasses since 1940. Now I have glaucoma, lens replacements and now the retinas in my eyes are deteriorating, macular degeneration. So I may go blind before I die.
I am sorry to have bored the readers with this and I realize that there are among the posters on MTJ many that have much worse conditions than I.
This is not nice and I don't like being not nice but I am also tired of hearing Roy say that he wishes he were dead.
As I said, Roy, I know nothing about you except that so far you must have an absolutely useless life if you only want to die.
I don't thin kI am useless yet and don't have any really important reason but I am not ready to die yet. When it is time, I will go.
I am not going to talk about this any further or argue anything I said. I don't mean this to be an attack on Roy but maybe someone can help him.

Roger, thanks for asking someone else to help me, but I already have a psychiatrist who specializes in patients with treatment-resistant mood disorders. Plus, I have understanding friends here who I can talk to.
