Thank you Murph, for a tough WHATZIT.

Now... Rufus says this is not his trainroom, so...

I keep giving attention to the unfolded tryptic picture on the wall - it's images seem key to me to what the room may be used for, and regarding whose it really is. Plus, there is a photo lying on a heap at mid-center-ish of the room, which is likely related to discovering the owner-hoarder-clutterboy. (NO criticism, just description. )

Would it help if I told you the tryptic picture and the photo picture are all images of a petty crook named George Dyer?

Yes, as Dyer was a lover of Francis Bacon, whose Kensington studio (or it's Dublin recreation) is the whatzit.

You nailed it Roy, it is the Dublin recreation.

I can't believe an art museum would display a recreation of a filthy pigsty of an art studio and display it as art itself.

Here is the triptych that caught Murph's eye.

WHATZIT?

I really do not expect anyone will get this one unless they happened to visit the Los Angeles Museum of Art in 1981 and had the nerve to open an unmarked door upstairs and walk into this. My wife did. I was downstairs watching a movie when she came into the theater and pulled me out, "Come with me, you have got to see this!"

Hmmm, not me. Our local school was staffed by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. They wielded meter sticks much like Skywalker handled a light-saber. They dealt in fear...very effective on the elementary school crowd. Looking back now, it's mildly humorous...at the time it was terrifying.

Roy, It is beyond-beyond that you would have known that, which suggests to me a whole lifetime of very unique experiences. I am just amazed you got that and did so so quickly. Would you share some of the thought journey that got you to the point of realizing what the room was evidencing?

The nuns I had were so close to our family that when my father died in 1955, when I was ten, they came to the funeral and wept. I was beyond amazed and deeply touched by that, since the only emotion we children ever saw evidenced by those nuns were their daily pleasantness, and occasional smiles, and their joy at running bases when getting hits at the softball games my father organized for them at picnics at private campgrounds, annually. To see them so mournful at the "Wake" was beyond words, to me, even here and now.
Here are a couple of them on Eighth Grade Graduation Day...

Sure. I right-clicked on the picture of Dyer, and it took me to a site for Francis Bacon, where his studio was shown. Simple as that. Use the photo search software available to you.

It's called "Central Meridian: The Garage" by Michael C. McMillen. Check this out: http://ellenbloom.blogspot.com/2010/08/is-it-art-or-mess.html

I gather the LACMA exhibit is not open now. Further, I got a different site when I searched on the photo last night, which had more photos. Maybe, it will come up again.

This is another example of what you can find, starting a search with a photo.

A surprising image, but no surprise it came via your holy-offices. The muzzle is a tad different :P from most Orders I have seen or come across or experienced. But then, my travels are limited to just my own imagination, resources, and need for adventures.
