No. Writing it down INFORMS one who would want to know or learn or become acquainted. For example, I've seen stuff written about or by Islam, but that does not mean anything to me beyond being somewhat informed, Rufus.

Informs? Maybe, but the act of writing it down does not instill any trustworthiness.

As far as kings and popes and other leaders editing written/pictographic records, stuff happens. We search for the Truth as best we can. What's new or shameful in that?

Not wrong with it as long as you also are capable of independent thought and reasoning, and actually search for truth as opposed for settling for good enough.

In my personal experience, the search , as well as the possession, can be a blending.

Take, for example, the assassination of President Kennedy. Where do we find the truth about all its particulars? Word of mouth? Verbal testimony that was written down? Eyewitnesses? Perhaps, we can find some truth in a blending of what has been made available to us?

Perhaps my favorite novel is "To Kill A Mockingbird." I don't accept it as
Historical Fact or Truth Universal, but I have derived from its written word some value and some truth about life and what matters significantly, even some instruction.
