A "few" pages back I posted up this photo of a TVRR engine probably taking on coal fro the PRR hopper:



and I've since found a photo from another angle:



and there's someone up there doing to hard work of shoveling coal down from under the hopper to the TVRR tender.....

Not much left or available on the TVRR. There is a book on it: "Tommy Varner's Red Rooster". What little bits of ephemera that does show up for sale (rarely) tends to severely test my budget and I rarely prevail. I had hoped to locate some items in August when what was a "family" country store was being sold out up in Waterloo where the RR had a real presence and also where I had managed to acquire a few choice items in the past.

There is a small station (mail stop?) that was moved to a farm long ago that still stands. I have had a sneaking suspicion that part of another station resides disassembled up in the rafters of the loft of the family barn as that same book relates that that station was taken down and away by my great-grandfather. I am assured that the TVRR combine car (also a "few" pages back) still exists albeit in unknown condition. I think I have other views of it available to post. That car was bought by a well-heeled individual and moved to be restored, but that has never come to fruition. I had hoped to be shown it back in August, but those plans did not come together.

Yeah, #1408 was posted along time ago prior to the last purge.....and I may have even bothered to find a more up to date version as you did, but no worries...

That's Rt. 16. Upper older photo is a Laughlin RPPC looking westward and you can see the incline in the distance going uphill on the way to Upton. The lower is looking eastward into town and you can see where those flags are which is the center square of Greencastle.

As for height, that bridge is actually quite high with good clearance - large trucks with trailers frequently roll through town from the west side which is Rt. 11 over to get on to Rt. 81 on the east side.

Absolutely! That's still the main line that runs up through to Harrisburg through Chambersburg, etc. Was CVRR, then PRR, then PC and so on & on....

It's kind of deceptive looking.....

There's actually 4 bridges in town over roads and then 1 large one over the RR at the north end of town - if you follow Carlisle St nothwards on Google maps it curves west up & over to meet with Rt. 11.
