BUSINESS AND BUSINESS MEN,
...We next come to the Hotel Central kept by Win. Sidle, which is well kept, but I have already referred to it. We next come to the Post Office, to which I have already referred in this book.
DISTINGUISHED VISITORS IN DILLSBURG,
Governor Robert E. Pattison and the Governor's Troop visited Dillsburg August 18th, 1894, and stopped at the Hotel Central. They received a very cordial reception by our citizens, a procession was formed, headed by the Dillsburg Brass Band, and our Chief Burgess S. N. Bailey, led the procession, followed by the Town Council and School Directors, and Ministers of the Gospel. At the Hotel Central an address of welcome was delivered by A. N. Eslingei-, which was responded to by Governor Pattison, in a very appropriate and eloquent address, and a general reception given to the citizens of town and vicinity in the afternoon of the same day.

It sure looks like a sturdy accomplishment; an interesting place to reside. It exudes quality.

Indeed. The attention to detail is impressive and I would not want to be up on the ladder when it next needed paint up under the eaves.
I do wish I could find a picture from another angle though.....might be a fun build, too.

Excellent point about upkeep, which would likely be endless (aren't they all).

Yeah, but a labor of love.....for me to pay someone else to go that ladder!

This may seem a little odd but I think those are all males standing there, father, grandson and son.
Fancy dresses[?] like that were used on boys for certain special occasions.

You're right. I have a memory of one of the last photos of Charles Lindberg's son wherein he was dressed like that.

Is the square still there?
Yup! Been a little modified for traffic control, but essentially still there.
What about those building
A lot of has been restored and reclaimed/re-purposed, and that continues - big Marriott with a convention center is on the one corner - have stayed there a few times.
I expect nothing and I’m still let down.

I think that is great that this has been preserved.
I realized they were trolley tracks. I liked the layout. Looks like something a 3Railer would do.

2 or 3 rail - small 4-wheel trolley works for either.......
