Pertinent to that "Meat Market Wagon in Fredonia" photo, and under the heading of "...other related pictures," here are a few shots, albeit poor ones, that show such wagons, sans horses in this modeling, alas, that a friend of mine, Roy Baker, makes and paints the way one might like them...

To put the antiques shop in-context, you can see the left-side of it here (top photo) in the left-foreground of this panorama of the village neighborhood of Moon Township...(Ignore temporary junk pile in roadway. )

Thank you, Rufus, for that interesting resource. I'll be scanning its wonders for the next few days ahead.
Horses I have aplenty, also from Roy Bakers Railroad shop; however, not included in the message of that scene wherein I'm pretending that the antiques shop has two old wagons for sale, as intact curiosities, pulled up and parked for sale alongside the establishment.

Also, when I searched, just a moment ago, for the site you provided, I noticed Valley Model Trains site, too, which is a big source I use for many of the kits I utilize in scenes. Here are fragments of a few such scenes (Roger likes it when I show some of these vignettes I've composed,) continuing the theme of "some other related (rural-type) pictures." :D

Seems a deluxe model. And I'm glad for the visual instruction on where exactly to place that "rigging" (I don't even know what to call it) that connects the wagon to the horse. That pole seemed to need particular, considerate placement alongside the horse: not too close to the horses head, nor too far down his front legs, straight horizontal, nor how close to have his rear to the dashboard (?), nor how much pole (?) to allow forward of his head. :mrgreen:Seems like I got it right (!) most of the time, if you look at the examples posted above and here, right? I think. Sort of. Yes? No? :? Murph
P.S. In the third scene down (9290), here, I am suggesting the horse is in the process of being harnessed-up, having rested under that tree a bit while the hay-wagon was being loaded.
P.P.S. I have no idea why or where the impetus originated in me for such compositions, but modeling those rural-like vignettes gave me great creative joy, despite having grown-up in metropolitan Pittsburgh. Go figger. :D :?:

Murph,

I grew up in a small town along the Ohio River not far from Pittsburgh by todays standards. We,I and my friends, knew every street and alley in town.
Soon we knew all the river and creek banks too. We didn't have recreation departments to keep us busy so we found our own ways.
Up on the hills were two different things, the farms or the woods. Both held many fascinating and very different things for us city boys.

Impetus for composition maybe.

Yes, Roger, that constant adventurous searching and exploring al the streets and alleyways of my hometown area seemed to be a part of my childhood and adolescence, too; however, the woods atop our hills along the Monongahela and Youghiogheny Rivers and in the valleys were part of that exploration, too, but the river banks were avoided. We had legends about the "dog of the woods" and the"man of the woods" to investigate, too. Both turned out to be true, but we boys managed to make friends with them.

We felt safe everywhere, and we were. Day and night. And we behaved because the neighbors were always watching and were quite prepared to "tell on us."
Murph (nicknamed after a favorite toy wind-up soldier from Murphy's 5&10.)
P.S. Did you ever visit Kennywood Park?

At the Blair Co. Hospital for the Insane...where it's Arts & Crafts.....

With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket-weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, ha-haaaaa...

Apparently it was the Arts & Crafts show of stuff done by the inmates............and that might be synonymous with your observation.
