Healey,

What are those black hanging pyramids?
Some kind of feeder?
What? It's new to me.

They look like wind-chimes (which I'll bet the neighbors love.)

Murph is dead on...it's a wind chime modeled after a buoy bell. Three slabs of quarter-inch steel with a metal clanger hanging inside. On a buoy the rocking action moves the clanger, but here the wind substitutes. My wife picked this up in a shop in New Harbor, Maine. It's not too loud until you get into some strong breezes, then it'll drive you nuts. Never heard my neighbors complain...maybe they are just being polite.

The problem is keeping the sea lions from congregating under it...

Actually got some pathways cut, thanks mostly to a neighbor. Then, I went to bed, pale, or so my wife said.
Bette Davis was right.

Here is our situation 'way out here in the stix, 18 hours after.

Gives an idea of quantity. I'm told 32" but the wind shifted it about so you really couldn't tell.

We're back in business! This is one area where Penndot excels.

And Dungfield Manor looking all smug after having weathered another "Storm of the Century", but hey. Aren't they all?

Between our machinery, good rural self-reliance, and actually having a place to put it all, we ain't afraid of no snowmagedon whatever thingy!

We had at least 30", the drift in front of my front door as an easy 4'.

A good 2-3 hours again today of which a good portion was just breaking out to the road - about 8' of distance of a driveway apron width that was about 8" deeper than the snow blower is tall. Had to dig the 3rd car out.....it was under a drift.

May have set myself back a few weeks on PT on my arm, but my wife is not going to use the snow blower....I've watched her try,

We don't get plowed by the county or state - we have a 1 lane road now instead of a very wide 2 lane and that takes us to a hill that few here possess the competency to drive up when it is just raining.

No problem - Gov;t is closed tomorrow! I planned on it being closed at least through Tues; Congress cancelled for the week already....

Surprisingly clear roof -- we have a good 18"+ on our roof. Part slid off onto the heat pump fan assembly a few hours ago - fun, fun, fun trudging across the tundra....around the back of the house...........no St. Alphonso and no pancakes either, :(

Putting it all somewhere is the real problem here as well.

So it goes. Fire in the fireplace, Advil in me, and the driveway is clear.

Tomorrow is another day.

Going to be a lot of babies born around Halloween this year.

That's funny, Dave. Hope you have provisions. Looks like you're screwed 'til spring.

Yup, that's our 2008 VW Beetle, nearly exclusively driven by my schoolteacher daughter. Just had the front-end put back together after she ran over a deer.

What's up? You a Beetle fan?
