If I heard the news correctly, the most time he'll have to serve is 120 days.

Somewhere in the piles of boxes there's a rather much in need of help (maybe.....) ancient 4-4-0 that I have that I had plans to disassemble and re-motor, etc.

I have a feeling, however, and it's just a vague impression, mind you, that his fellow inmates in Mexico will help his affluent, privileged, entitled-self experience many new adventures there during those several days as a very special young guest.

He needs to do time and become some lifer's bunkmuffin. Maybe he'd learn somethin', and get his life turned around. Given the chance, he'll do it again, and more families will suffer at his hand.

If he is tried as an adult and the judge is not in his father's pocket then it's game over.

Jon!! LOL! I only pulled an all nighter in the brig in Gitmo once. And I can assure you, I spent the night alone, drunk, doped from the two loads of crap they injected me with at the Navy Hospital, and laying on a cold tile floor in a cell with a one foot square window and a 12 foot high ceiling. I remember the poster taped to the ceiling. "A job is one thing, but a Navy career is something special". Next morning, I swept the entire friggin' pier down under the watchful glare of a Marine PFC, and I was a 3rd Class Petty Officer at the time! Went to captain's mast over that one. Restricted to the base for 60 days, (where the fock was I gonna go, it's Cuba), 30 days two hours extra duty every day, and stand a watch every day. The captain was not amused! I was glad he didn't bust me 'cause I'd just sewed on 3rd a month earlier.

Damn near a quart of Gin can make you do crazy shit!

Holy guacamole, Mitch!! Your Captain had no sense of humor at all!
But then again I've never suffered the effects of consuming an entire bottle of gin either!!
As a young Jarhead I spent a night in the brig myself in Iwakuni, Japan. I was given a verbal reprimand by my CO and that was the last of my punishment. :D

Ah, but Jon me lad, you were merely a frisky young jarhead.

As an ol' Top, I see what they were trying to do. Mitch as a newly minted PO/3 thus discovered he was being held to a new higher standard. I bet his Chief was even less amused, but the both not stripping him back to Seaman showed wisdom. Crush one testicle to show an absolute intolerance for other-rank behaviour in a new Petty Officer, then see if the message was clear and the lad rises to the occasion.

Come up in front of me again and I'd bust his arse back to an E-1 as unsuitable to be a PO for a very long time.

Instead, look at how good our Mitch turned out!

True, Sarge. Very true! Poor one testicle Mitch!

I remember right before my 4 year enlistment was up I had to go before our SMAJ to discuss re enlistment. I remember the SMAJ reading off a list of my not so great accomplishments which pretty much consisted of drinking and fighting. These were things jarheads just did.
He looked up and said CPL Born this isn't the Old Corps anymore. Things are changing. I smiled back in the position of parade rest and said I'll be on my way Seargent Major. Semper Fi.

Speaking of military news:
Marines cancel robot mule trials!
"there was the challenge of seeing the potential possibility because of the limitations of the robot itself," Kyle Olson, a spokesman for the Warfighting Lab, told Military.com. "They took it as it was: a loud robot that's going to give away their position."

Final report on the three that were delivered to Camp Lejuene.

One was broken into several pieces.
One was lost.
One showed signs of repeated violent sexual assault.
