A page taken from Sarge's handbook, the section on how not to fritter away the last days of October.
First, a fork in the road...oh, which way shall we go?:

Arter's Mill on Pipe Creek (original mill built in 1781, rebuilt in its current configuration in the early 1800's):

No sign of the race...
The B-road...one needs to be careful on these roads not to take a black walnut off the hood (bonnet):

St. Mary's United Church of Christ in Silver Run:

Another Bailey Bridge, albeit a small one (thank God for Mr. Bailey and the Royal Engineers):

Farm kids just love to burn the tires off the old man's pick-up:

The view looking up:

This is pretty much what the whole county looked like when I was a boy:

The Sprite had a dead battery again...thought I'd cracked the short that was draining the electrics but apparently not. The Z stood in nicely:

Last stop for the day, the Shriver Homestead in Union Mills (1797), also on Pipe Creek:

It was here that Stuart stopped for the night after thrashing Corbit's cavalry at Westminster. A pleasant dinner with the Shrivers and then he was off the next morning to get his behind handed to him at Gettysburg.
The under-shot wheel on the mill:

The Mason-Dixon Willys Club is having their annual meet at the Homestead this weekend:

If you need a part for your '49 Jeepster, this will be a good place to have a look around, and you can crash the wedding.
Tomorrow the forecast says we start a streak of mid-fifties...that should knock some leaves off the trees.
