They looked nice but you would still need to cut the cross arms.
He said they are Weaver. Walthers is just a distributor.
Yeah, I think the choices for telephone poles, lighted or unlighted, are few.
In production:
- Lionel offers 3 sets of scale poles (each set contains 6 poles). Most of them are pretty nice, but pricey with MSRPs up in the mid-30s or 40s.
Street prices hover around the $20-25 mark. Still pricey in my opinion. They also have a non-scale set of 6 for $10 MSRP. - Keil-Line offers a lighted pole and transformer kit at $10 apiece. It's a nice kit, but if you need anything approaching a decent quantity...
- The Weaver line pole kits are the most realistic, IMO. They are based upon meticulous research of the prototype, including the glass resistors. They also offer the flexibility to roll your own variations. For example, Pennsy line poles could have up to 8 cross-arms. Weaver will support up to 4 cross-arms with pre-made holes. I think the Weaver pole kits are less expensive than Lionel and offer the customization opportunities I needed.
Out of production:
- Life-Like
- Marx
- There was a guy on the OGR forum who had a business making telephone poles. He went out of business about 3-5 years ago.
I'm sure I am forgetting someone. Or many "someones".
