I believe you may have erred.

"I think many modelers do not understand.", may be more accurate.

I think not. Here is my evidence of correctness:
Ten years ago I tried to convince that arrogant group of wankers on the other forum about this without any success.

Just because the members of this forum understand does not mean that the concept is not beyond the capability of many to understand. I have no idea how many, but certainly all those arrogant wankers are included in the set of many.

Where is your evidence that I have erred? No need for proof, I would just like more detail about what you are thinking.

That this topic on paint and coloration and lighting has been around, and around, and around, and around, and folks still do not understand, insist that the color photograph from where is the most accurate source of information and totally discount the host of variables involved......nothing more.....and that this is but one of several topics that continues to not be........understood.

Your error was, in my opinion, merely the placement of the period.

I do not believe that I made any statement regarding intellect here or anywhere; in fact, that is not actually relevant to understanding or even wanting to understand, the latter of which may be fundamentally more important.

What about individual differences in perception of shades of color?

There also seems to be a lot of colored things that we may remember more brightly than they were.
I have wondered about movies that have been "restored" to their "original luster".Many of those do not look "natural" to me.

I will admit that I have screwed up eyes so maybe none of this is of any significance.

Good point! My eyes continue to fade; I nearly lost vision in one.

Can we even trust the colors that we saw in our youth to be true in our memories?

Now, consider the ave. age group of model RR'ers...........

Rufus,

Thank you for the input.

I agree it was awkward. I'll go back and edit.

I thought I did. Maybe it is easier to think you understand if you never try it.

The quote was merely just that, a quote not directed anyone, but perhaps at everyone, philosophically.

Ok, enough staring into the abyss for today!

OK. On to comedy. Regarding your signature, "The lady lies..."
Do you find, "Wankel Rotary Engine" rude or funny?

Depends on the context; can reduce me to a giggling fit with "vibraphone" or "grunties".

I'm not totally sure I understand the desire to over turn the "don't ask-don't tell policy" in the military. It's bad enough we have to use open showers, but I really don't want to shower with people of my own gender that are staring at my butt. If it gets over turned I guess I'll plead I'm a lesbian trapped in a mans body and demand to sleep in the women's barracks.

Jon,

Staring at your butt? You already have that situation. Always have.

The military's first known lesbian soldiers apparently disguised themselves as men and fought in the 15th Missouri Regiment during the Civil War. Indeed, gay men and lesbians have served in every sector of the military, including the Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and the cockpit of Air Force One.

Some gay men and women want to "come out." In 1973, gays and lesbians began to use courts to challenge the constitutionality of antigay regulations.

Of the 26 countries that participate militarily in NATO, more than 22 permit gay people to serve.

France leads the way for Gay military service. [Opinion]

In France, indifference characterizes the official attitude towards homosexuals in the military. However, they are allowed to opt out of military service if they wish by declaring themselves unfit because of their sexual orientation. Commanders and psychiatrists can also discharge gay and lesbian personnel if they feel they are disrupting their units and cannot fit in.

The first joke or slur on this subject will cause this post to vanish.

That's a nice little piece of programming! When I was teaching kids to program in Basic half the problem is finding something that interests them and isn't too difficult. Something like that, only much simpler, that I had them invent was cursor move routines with different sounds when it ran off the page in any direction.

The old PC's - we're talking prehistoric DOS here - only had a beeper but you can get an amazing range of sounds out of the thing, really a quite surprisingly complex waveform can be created by issuing different instructions to run concurrently, so you can end up with some beauts.

Well, they weren't trying very hard with the sound instructions, so I wrote a little Basic game called ZOG where an alien (naturally) has to recharge his spacesuit with power pills (orange blobs) which can easily be mistaken for cans of baked beans (yellow blobs) - it was ANSI graphics, hence the blobs - you had to find as many as possible in a given time BUT if you loaded up on the wrong blobs the spacesuit thrusters wouldnt work, instead he farted.

So I held a Basic farting contest and the winner got the game. It was hugely popular BUT NOT with the Administration when they got wind of it, oops sorry, pun not intended. I got a royal dressing down by the Superintendent thanks to some parent complaining about my 'use of vulgarity'. I pointed out that we now had the hottest Basic programmers in the whole damn school and besides all kids love fart jokes.

I was told that teachers have to 'maintain the moral high ground' so its okay to bore them to death and teach them sweet sod all as long as you behave like a total prat! This is why I took early retirement, a constant stream of problems about my (Same mans words) 'bizarre means of instruction'. A true story, no embellishment at all. I love teaching and my kids regularly did well in competition but I've worked for four different Administrations, no five and none of them had anyone with any brains in the School Board Office.
