Quick update:
Very sore tonight, after being in PT from 1000 to 1400 today. I think he had a chance to talk to Missip earlier, but Patty's gonna let the hobo be, tonight.
So far, holding his own. 8)

No problemo.

Talked to his better half today, and he's coming home from the hospital today. She says he's a hurtin' pup, however, so I won't bother them tonight. What he's had to endure I cannot even fathom. I'm certain, though, that he'll be cheered by everyone's support.

I'll relay updates as I hear them.

In his own way, Hev is an American hero. We raise a tin cup to him again. Godspeed, buddy, to a quick return to health.

I thoughtful salute, Tramp! When I think about it most of the fellas here are American Hero's each giving in their own special way. We are all woven into the fabric of what America stands for. I hope that came out right. Cheers, Lad's!

(I still think that a poster of big Hev in his hospital gown posted at all international flights bound for the U.S. would result in zero terrorist attack attempts in the U.S. )

Exactly right, that was the goal of the surgery, but if it were just that, Hev would have been doing the 'Texas Two-Step' by now. Before they could do the repair, they had to chip out and extract old rods that he had in his back that were solidly in there, then remove some bone spurs, then decompress the nerves, and finally insert new rods, to effect a 'fusion' of those joints to prevent further pinching of the nerves. All of that with a 15-inch incision and 50+ stitches, and it's no wonder he's in some serious pain.

My daughter in law had the same thing twice and her back is still not right. They may have to go in a third time. She is on some serious drugs for pain. I pray that Hev's is better than that,

Jim

Hoping our main man Hev is resting by now and healing. Best of everything to you, big guy, and to Patty for taking such care.

PS Dirt: 3 foot rollers today. http://www.surfline.com/surf-report/del-mar-southern-california_4783/ Put on 3/4" of neoprene this morning b4 bfast and later ate at an Encinitas dive (101 Cafe) I frequent. Between waves, thought about hev and how blessed I am that I can still do this.
