I was rereading this topic, and it dawned upon me that it might pay to look into some of the techniques used in modern day body shops as in paint-less dent repair. Just a thought.

Scott, I like that brown building in the far right of your second shot...it could make an interesting switch/signal tower structure with a bit of work. Is that a craft store purchase?

Here's a pic of a Lionel 512 gondola I refurbished many years ago, a time when I wanted everything to look "new". I used a can of Wood's "peacock" enamel, a color that seemed to vary widely can-to-can:

I'm over the whole repaint/refurb thing now...something has to be in pretty rough shape before I'll consider a strip/respray.
