Early Prospector Equipment

Postby webenda » Mon May 18, 2026 10:36 pm

The 1850s saw railroads reach across the Mississippi River, serve parts of Texas, and lay down roots in California. Railroads did not cause the Gold Rushes, but they played a transformative role in opening and sustaining them, especially in California and other western mining regions. A typical prospector's kit included gold pan, shovel/pick, rocker or sluice, and mercury for amalgamation.

I wondered if there were any 1:48 prospectors available to model a scene with an early prospector?

AI found this:

Hint: If the prospector does not show up when you go to the link, change the search text to prospector.

Mining and logging stuff seem to be areas of common interest for model details.

I'm still looking for figures of Kaspar Gutman and Joel Cairo for in the Moraga car......
