K-line Vat Car Disassembly

Postby RBH29 » Sun Dec 17, 2023 7:01 am

Does anyone know if the K-line vat car comes apart easily? I want to modify the graphics on the vats. Edited to add that I don't have a vat car but thinking of acquiring one. Thank you.

That's it! Thanks, Greg. From your pictures it's pretty obvious how to take the car apart. I plan to pick it up on my way to Maryland for Christmas. Thanks again.

No problem. Happy to help where I can. One Phillips screw on one end, tabs on the other. Remove the top and the vats are simply pushed down on the tabs.
I didn’t do anything with the vats yet(maybe this will re inspire me!) I did kadee it and cover up that god awful red. K line makes some really nice stuff but they really dropped the ball naming this one.

Your pictures make it crystal clear on how to take it apart. I'm going to repaint the red too but I'll leave the couplers alone. I'm planning to pick up the car in NJ on my way to MD so I hope it all goes smoothly. Sorry for the slow reply. My town got hit with the latest storm and the power was just restored. Thanks again, Greg, for your good information!
