Puzzing...interesting

Postby ScaleCraft » Thu Nov 26, 2020 2:53 pm

https://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-736-BER ... 4945125119

except it's not a 736, nor is it "vintage".

Research....looks like it's a Lionel Classic 726 re-issue 6-18053 shell.

Clues are, no e-unit slot....so is it a 1946 726? No. Handrail stanchion supports are cast in, not flush with boiler for bolt-on stand offs. There is a hole at the cab end of the handrail run for the end of the handrail to "return" into boiler instead of fitting into front of cab wall.

Appears the handrail mount holes have been drilled out. They look way too big.
You'd think if the seller took one of these apart (parting out for more PROFIT!) he'd have seen what it was.

Misrepresentation at best.

Who knows if the mounting holes to chassis are the same.

3 bids. Price is still low enough, but you need a late Lionel for it to fit.

And it sold for $17.49. I watched the end, sniping at 5 seconds, but it was the same guy with the last bid 10 minutes earlier, same price. Not sure how that works unless his sniping just confirmed his bid.
