Weekend Photos - 11/3/17

Postby Jim K » Fri Nov 03, 2017 10:40 am

Howdy one and all. Hope things are going well. My wife and I took a short America by Rails tour in West Virginia and Maryland last week. We rode behind some old steam and diesel. The photos and short videos below show some of the motive power plus a CSX unit at the Cumberland Amtrak station. Hope you enjoy.

Train ON,

Jim K

Nice shots. Thanks for posting!

Chuck,

Glad you liked them. I wasn't trying to get into Christopher's "space". I was just glad to be
finished with all the malarkey at Flickr (which IS getting easier for me) and wanted to get
them posted. I thought I would be cabbaging onto that usual topic but when nothing was
there I claimed the name.............. did not mean to offend.................

Jim, I see you have pictures of a Heisler. Were they running this at the same place the Shay was?

Roy,

The Heisler was running on the Durbin & Greenbriar Railroad but it was on loan from the Cass Scenic Railroad.
The Climax that usually runs on the Durbin is down at the moment so they got the Heisler from "next door".

Jim,
I don't think Christopher is the designated weekend thread starter, he just has more ready to go.
I may be wrong but I hope not.
Enjoyed your stuff.

Dave,
What were you in South Solon for?
I lived in South Charleston from 1964-1970.
We really liked that area.

I think those are remote control locos.
Also think the railroad is ex Detroit, Toledo and Ironton.
Then GTW and the last I heard Indiana and Ohio, I think.

That's a serious access cutout on the GP-18, wonder what they were trying to get to?

Thank you for making me czech the map; I corrected the caption to reflect that it was actually South Charleston, OH. The elevator is located at the SW corner of S.Chillicothe & Woodward Sts. We were heading down OH 41 to Washington Court House and US-35 returning home from the 47th annual Mid-Ohio Insulator Show at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield.

In that case it was on the PRR/PC.
The DT&I crossed the PRR there.
During my time there about 8 passenger trains on the PRR and 10 or more freights,
DT&I was running probably 10 a day.

The insulator show started after I left.
Our friend Murph on MTJ went to college in Springfield at Wittenberg.
I liked the area but don't miss the weather.
