Weekend Photos - 5/19/17

Postby christopher2035 » Fri May 19, 2017 11:12 am

Happy Friday!
I can see why a lot of people make trains a fall/winter hobby. Lot's of outdoor activities have held the majority of my time so I wasn't able to get anything big done, but made some little progress on certain parts.

I worked on the Jersey City terminal area mostly & the bridge.
Painted the MTH platform roofs black & wired in the lights. Added a few people & started some ballast. BIG improvement!

Added a road w/ traffic lines, CNJ herald & some concrete walls to the underpass. There is also a light under there, so you can see the cars

Then Ran some trains for a bit-

Photo 9, why does the backdrop looki shiny? Is there a window behind it?
Once I built a railroad, I made it run,
Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad, now it's done --
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Probably some reflection from the flash. I have a bounce flash & even though it's aimed straight up, you still get some reflection.

Great pics Christopher...what's the source on the small line shed in the fifth shot? Is that a scratch-built?

No significant train-related activity here. The guys over at Vienna Station sent me a nice Flyer 478 boxcar for the set I'm working on:

Just a 476 gondola and it's complete.

Chris,

Your ability to get things done continues to amaze me. We are still in "box city" here. I have managed to get the computer working (obviously), as well as parts of the workshop, but I am still a long ways from being able to do anything on the layout itself. :(

...and he's working full-time and has three kids and a couple of dogs running around.

Christopher sets a blistering pace. I'm retired and can't keep up. My theory is he sleeps less than three hours per night.

I think Christopher is able to get so much done because he is really twins. :D :D
Now seriously, is the background in the photos of the big city to any scale?
I think I have seen it in HO but not O.

No, it's resin casting. I forget where I got them, but they are based on CNJ prototypes. I have 2 of them. Would love to get a few more, but I haven't a seen anymore.
