Weekend Photos - 4/7/17
I'm headed out to PA & NJ for the kids spring break tomorrow, so thought I'd kick this off early, as we will be driving tomorrow.
Still working on the terminal extension this week. Ballasted some track, painted rails & added a backdrop
Added new 'stone' to the middle platform at Red Bank
Picked up one of those new Lionel tractors. Really nice, but $$$
Picked up these Amtrak PS3 RDCs for cheap & used it to swap shells w/ my conventional CNJ ones. So now my CNJ RDCs have DCS
A short local passing the new 'Westfield' platform & the reconfigured road
Few more shots of the local -
NS ES44AC 8148 leads 18M through Ironto, VA on ex VGN rails
NS SD40E 6353 (ex CR 6774) leads a power move through Radford, VA on the Pulaski District
Meet on the Pokey - A pair of NS ES44AC helpers head westbound at Bluestone, WV as they pass eastbound 42N
A trio of NS GEVOs shove eastbound 83Q through Welch, WV in the heart of McDowell County - WV coal country

As always, nice work. Especially like the last shot of the real trains. Nice high angle.
Do you plan to "weather" the roads? They are well done but very pristine. Some cracks or expansion joints might make for an added visual detail. If it were a scene in Michigan I'd suggest some crater sized potholes

Once I built a railroad, I made it run,
Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad, now it's done --
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Great stuff Christopher...nice weathering job on 1010.
Nothing to report here. Picked up this prewar Flyer tanker for a buck at an antique mall in Hanover, Pa.:
Looks like it's been stored in a rock-tumbler. A late version with link-couplers similar to those offered in early S-gauge post-war. I'm a softie for these sorts of things and my basement is filling up with this stuff...

Christopher,
I'm always impressed by the amount of work you manage to get done on your layout. You are very efficient!

I don't weather my stuff but somehow, compared to Christopher's, it looks "dirty".
This may be from the type ofscenery I have done.
It seems to me that weathering would turn into a very time consuming process.
But as fast as Christopher whips out new layouts he will probably find a fast way
to weather his.

Good to see your posts again.
What is going on in that next to last photo?
Do I see big green men of some kind?
