$44.99 in 2014 and then discounted 6%(?) from the current price of $49.99 down to $46.99 and out of stock......

Many companies seem to have some really great prices for some products and when you are ready to buy it it is listed as out of stock.
Most of what I want seems to be out of stock. Oh well.

Yeah, how is that now "free"? And usually the "shipping and handling" more than covers the cost of the junk, er product.

The closest date I can find for Lucy's proclamation is 1965 which would translate to 39 cents when adjusted to 2017 prices.

That reminds me...
Ben Bernanke
Chair of the Federal Reserve
In office February 1, 2006 – February 3, 2014
Here is a bottle of the ink he used for printing money. It is extremely fast drying.
Now why would the Van Pelt economic statement remind me of a bottle of ink?

Quantitative Easing (QE)
Here is a simple explanation of QE: Ben Bernanke is Lucy Van Pelt, the American people are Charlie Brown, and QE is the football. Like the recurring scenario in the comic strip, “Peanuts”, the whole point of QE is to get us to do things that will ultimately cause us to fall on our financial butts.
For QE to work, the Fed must induce Americans to do things that don’t make economic sense.
QE1 December 2008
QE1 is the nickname given to the Federal Reserve's initial round of quantitative easing. That's when the Fed massively increases it normal open market operations. It purchases debt from its member banks. The Fed can buy as much debt as it wants, anytime its wants. That's because it has the authority to create credit out of thin air. It has this ability so it can quickly pump liquidity into the economy as needed. This encourages the banks to loan more money and lower interest rates. The American people borrowed money to buy things they could not afford.
By June 2010, the Fed's portfolio had expanded to an alarming $2.1 trillion. Bernanke halted further purchases since the economy had started to improve.
The American people, discovering they could not afford the loans they had taken out, defaulted. The banks did not get their money back. Everyone fell on their financial butts.
QE2 (November 2010 - June 2011)
Repeat:
Operation Twist (September 2011 - December 2012)
Repeat: image
QE3 (September 2012 - October 2014)
Repeat:
QE4 (January 2013 - October 2014)
Repeat:
What, no QE5? No, Lucy Van Pelt was pulled from the game.

The amazingly foolish ones did although it does take 2 parties to execute such foolishness so lenders are also complicit.....
