Yes, a purge here combined with the Photobucket debacle will give me a good push to just start over with a next hosting service or to finally pull the trigger on just setting up my own site and service.

Soon after I got here, I reached the attachment upload limit. Usually, these BBS sites have fairly limited memory for attachments. But, I've added lots of pics here, by way of using the Img button, and the address of the image. It doesn't seem to count against the attachment memory here.

If the photos are hosted elsewhere, and you use the img button, not supposed to affect the MTJ server...that's why we do it.
I think the percentage of hosted photos now is a whole lot more than it was last purge, and it will be interesting to see what survives.
If I recall, last time they just saved the newest two pages and dumped everything older.

But, you never know.

The pictures I post are typically in the range of 70k to 200k give or take. But if it will help, I'll use a photo hosting site. Which ones do you guys favor, and why? Thanks for the advice in advance.

Various threads on the various forums on this website have discussed just that. Some choices. I use Flickr. Just refused to do what everybody else did many years ago, and it works for me very well.
Seems to be XP friendly still.

Flickr

Because PhotoBucket all but quit working for me when they started getting heavy with advertising. Recently Photobucket quit working altogether if you had a free account.

Because I was very impressed with the way Christopher Esposito set up his Flickr account. I set up a Flickr account as soon as I saw what he had done. Take a look:=> https://www.flickr.com/photos/cesposito2035/

Because Flickr has so many features that are so easy to use, for example, a choice of image size when you select an image to post. MTJ auto adjusts image size to 850 pixel width, so posting anything bigger is just a waste of bandwidth.

Because using Flickr is just as easy to use as Photobucket used to be.

Because Flickr's free accounts still work.

Because Flickr works flawlessly with XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10.

I have been totally unable to upload an animated gif file - I get a message back from Flickr every time I try telling me that it is an unacceptable format.

This is an animated gif file :?

Is an ani-gif a photo or a video? Flicker limits photo image size ot 200 MB on free accounts and 1080p, 1GB max for videos. Your ani-gifs might be big?

I think we hit a good place in good ol' Wayne with the, albeit brief, though substantive  ) pencil cranker sharpener conversation. It seems to have captured his imagination, no small feat, I imagine. :D

Wait a minute...that's a clockwise turning gif, Rufus (I'm sure) was referring to the counterclockwise model

Well, Flickr responds to me that a gif file type is not acceptable file type.

I concede that I am probably doing something wrong; I find Flickr to be totally convoluted and confusing to doing much of anything.

It is counterclockwise from the pencil's point of view.

Try stealing my ani-gif and storing it in your Flickr account. You know from demonstration the gif should be acceptable to Flickr.
