Re: Oriant Express Brass Loco
Not trying to be a wise guy, but it might aid your search if you get the spelling correct.
It is Orient Express
Good Luck

Re: Orient Express Brass Loco
I just received this model couple of days ago and its actually a three rail model. It runs very smoothly. The pictures don't do it justise the detail is exquisite.
Re: Orient Express Brass Loco
Yeah, you can tell it is a very special model regardless of how many rails it uses. Great detail and the quality of the build really stands out. Brake rigging and nut/bolt or rivet detail in places that don't even show screams quality to me. Nice catch!

Agree with Butch; a great looking locomotive, do you plan to operate it as is? convert to two-rail or perhaps flip/re-sell it?
Rolling stock might be a challenge though that cool Roco and Lima stock from the seventies comes to mind if not maybe a tad too modern.
Intriguing.

Re: Orient Express Brass Loco
I purchased the loco as part of a collection. There is a Mikado or 141P as well ( also on the forum ) The plan was to sell at least one to pay for things. The longer I have them the more I love them, and what are they or who manufactured them, and what’s there real value??
Re: Orient Express Brass Loco
Stephen, The prototype for your loco is representing something from across the pond (meaning Europe). You might try and contact someone in the "O Gauge Guild", which is British modelers, and maybe they could steer you in the right direction. Good Luck! I think the original Orient Express originated in Paris and ended in Turkey, but that's a wag on my part. Now that they have the Chunnel a modern version could originate in London. You'll have to dig out a copy of the Bond film: "From Russia with Love" for Hollywood's version.

PS: I think the most recent version of the Orient Express ended up in Venice, which is NOT my idea of the Orient! Most is confirmed in the following wikipedia piece.

As for the retailer of your loco, I would look for someone in Europe. I think it is likely the retailer or vendor would have been located in Europe and the builder would have been Japanese or Korean. My knowledge of European trains is slim and none and Slim is out of town! I hope this has helped you out!

Re: Orient Express Brass Loco
The underside detail on these models is such, that they would need a very large radius to operate, say maybe at a guess, minimum 84”. It is beautiful to look at thou, and fills you with admiration for the craftsmanship involved.

The OLD rule of thumb that I've heard is 72". That and a buck used to get you a cup of coffee. Someplace to start, anyhow. And yes, a good looking piece of metal, whatever the case!
