That may not be out of line. The Bultmann products were expensive to start, and used apparently state of the art gearing as well as MMW-like detailing.

Here's a $3,500 diesel that was just posted:
C&LS VGN Virginian F-M Fairbanks Morse Train Master #67 Phase 1 - F/P - Boo-Rim
I wonder how much more it would cost to have it "professionally converted" to 3-Rail?
Anyone guilty of that should be neutered!!!

Here's a Holy Cow from feebay, an Overland E-3/6/7 A-B pair that sold for just $311.75:
Ebay #256262867082
I snoozed, I losed, so I hope Dave or another Southern fan snagged it.

A phase 2 has been added. Now you can get them both 3 railed! Henry would be rotating in his grave about then. There are a lot of atrocities that occur.

TrainZ has a C&LS in the Fairbanks-Morse Demonstrator paint scheme:
Boo-Rim Precision O 2-Rail BRASS Fairbanks-Morse Demonstrator Diesel #TM-2 - F/P EX/Box
The paint scheme is spectacular but the handrails have been pushed inward, so that may be why they've slashed the price down to just $3,751.63...

Those TM's are great looking engines. I think they originally retailed about $1800 a pop in the Demo paint scheme. I have a capture of Henry's website done by the Wayback Machine, but I can't find my bookmark of it. The demonstrators were the most expensive paint scheme. I haven't seen any "like new" TM's listed anywhere for less than $3500. The old supply and demand.

Re: -Holy Cow!
A few years ago Bill Davis had a C&LS TM listed on ebay. Unpainted, no power, and with some parts of the drive missing. I've been redoing a lot of C&LS diesels so I had the parts required to get it running. Paid well under a Grand for it, $600 to $700 I believe. I was shocked it went so cheap.
Anyway, I won the auction and got it running. My buddy John is adding some details, including the correct plow, and painting it in the SP Black Widow scheme.
Apparently this was a/the pilot model for Henry. One thing to note, the operating fans weren't present but that didn't bother me for the price I paid.
The model now runs great. The Faulhaber gear head replaced the weird assed motor Henry put in these things.
I will attempt to attach a link to the Photobucket album for this model. No guarantees I'll be successful.
