Finally some two rail track

Postby Dennis Holler » Fri Jun 16, 2023 7:20 am

I finally got around to attempting to put together some two rail track. Really a rookie experiment. American FLyer tinplate rail from S track, 1/4" poplar ties form Menards and ho track spikes.... Grey and black stain on the ties.... Will keep going. Yes I have Gargraves and some Truscale roadbed from Carey so no good explanation for doing this other than entertainment....

I might try and make some free spike plates by cutting up some aluminum cans.... for fun...

Now at least I can photograph these old trains on two rail track.... All for BOB!!

Yes. I enjoy seeing others' work. Cannot wait to see more of your collection.

That is one honking draft gear behind that coupler!

It's stock Scale Craft, the early heavy frame. I guess it does have a pretty serious look!
I kinda don't have much choice, I want to run these big lumps a little and my tubular is no good for that! lol

It looks like the draft gear was not installed properly to me.

Did anybody other than me notice how neatly the spikes are set on these ties? That offset of the spikes on opposite sides of the rail really looks good. I am not nearly that good, even after driving thousands of spikes. Bravo, Dennis!

Way better than I could do! It's flex track all the way here!

The goal is to throw down a double track loop as my upper level. It's gonna be tight and I guess pretty much not much more than a circle in a 15X13 room, but ya do what you got room for.
