Just out of curiosity, how long did take you?

One day to get to JAX, and drive to Lake City. Then it was one day to Nacogdoches, one day to Van Horn, one day to Casa Grande, then home. Fun trip.

Sounds like it was a great trip.

I have been to Van Horn, TX, spent the night there in a cheap motel on an eastbound trip many, many years ago. The next stop was Hope, AR where I spent the night in the lowest-priced motel (cabins, really) that I have ever been in (4.95 plus tax). Years later (2014) i went back through Hope and tried to find that place; someone in the C of C said that they (the cabins) had been demolished a few years back. I went on my way east and it turned out that one of the cabins was still standing and in somewhat good shape. I am not sure now as to why I did not take a picture of it.

I have stayed in cheap motels in Van Horn, but this time it was the truly fancy place - looked a lot like El Posada in Winslow.

All fodder for the "So What" file!
