Midwestern Model Works Redux
Midwestern Model Works Redux
Once again our fine feathered friends at OGR have seen fit to AX a thread for no apparent reason...other than one of the customers for the project in question was expressing his concerns because of lack of information.
Footnote: There is the possibility that Marty may have brought about the whole debacle by using a word of more than 2 syllables!

Same BS on a car forum I frequent, which has been most helpful in re-teaching me DIY on my car. But, like most forums, its full of good and bad info with loads of opinions on everything. Most of the older (many decades in some cases) posters have left in the past two years to my disappointment; several owning these 60's cars since new. Also, guys who have restored or built Resto-mod cars for a living during the past 35 years and have tons of intimate knowledge. There seems to be a new (40's and 50's) group taking over, that are rude, opinionated and humiliating in their posts to newbies asking questions, yet the forum administrators accepts that.
My point is this: One very knowledgeable forever poster, recently left (his idea) the forum after telling some of the younger know it all's what he thought of their ideas (no bad words). Now as soon as anyone asks where did "Frankie" go (he was very popular), the thread is immediately locked.
When I see this if makes me think of OGR.

Maybe it is possible that a couple MMW supporters tagged on with outrage that anyone would even question what was obviously the best thing to happen to humanity, and they quashed it for that? They hate acrimony!

So, has MMW delivered anything yet? I don't follow his progress as he has nothing for me, but sure seems like he's taking an awful long time to deliver.

Marty is correct. I looked at the thread and within 5 minutes it was gone. The last person to post expressed his concern due to the lack of information from MMW. No ranting or raving, just that he was starting to have misgivings. POOF!
We all agree: nothing yet, nothing of interest, toooooooooo long!

Don't believe so and he's never shown up and/or posted there either.
One of my posts went poof! recently when I stated that what that guy had were Adams & Sons castings from the bronze age of O scale. Looked back a day later and that simple statement was gone.
Seems to me that the level of paranoia there has been increasing of late. I think Melvin was a little more knowledgeable and tolerant than the new guy. Just a smidgeon!

I have no horse in this race, but was always surprised at how long some importers took from deposits to delivery. MMW does the same payment routine as KOH's, with big deposit up front, 2nd substantial progress payment and a final payment before shipment. Not comfortable with that schedule as the customer takes all the risk. At least KEY, OMI and 3rd Rail build models with their money.

As for innocuous replies - about 10% of the time when posting photos I forget to go down to the bottom and hit the "post" button.
They haven't been pissed at me for a while - but I posted something not train related last year and they went apoplectic. Even e-mailed me with a personal note. If you are going to go off-topic, make sure it is a prayer solicitation.
