There was a short series of photos posted when I brought my MTH Flying Yankee to his layout and titled something like "A Flying Yankee Down In Dixie".

EDIT: Unless it is buried in one of the Weekend Photo threads, it is now gone. :(

Chris, Thanks for posting the video of Joe's layout! I had seen some still shots, but never a video. Great stuff!

Rich invited me to look at Jim Harper’s “last run.” I met Jim on a Reno overnight over a third of a century ago. I really liked Reno - good food, lots of lights, old buildings, the Truckee river, and friendly railroad cops who sympathized but were obliged to point out the SP “no trespassing” signs.

Jim was a B-25 pilot in the olden days - a lot of O Scale folks are also aviation types. He made the very best O Scale coupler. It worked flawlessly and looked like the real thing. He was always friendly - a great guy.

I didn’t make it all the way through - I read faster than I listen, so kind of bounce off that sort of thing - but I always notice Jim’s SP Mike with the SC tender. Really nice model.

His layout was gorgeous. My spouse, too, wants to sell all the trains before I croak. My view on that subject is - I get to keep them until the end, and then someone can just dump them. They served their purpose.

Bob, I agree with your plan. I think Jim is really going to miss his layout, and it might have helped to keep him alive longer. He had it 37 years!

Absolutely the best narrow gauge pike I’ve laid eyes on! Warning this is narrow gauge(On3) but it is 2 rail. :D Enjoy!
