Might want to ask the three-rail forum.

The description omits any reference to stainless...
Nice-looking 3-R track, though

Rex, It's right in the title of the ad. It's not in the body. I was curious about brass stainless steel. I guess it prevents the brass from tarnishing, maybe? Maybe not. My sense of humor is not for everyone!

Peter, I like your sense of humor! If you scroll down toward the bottom there is a LARGE graphic with a cartoonish steam engine and the SAME message as in the TITLE of the auction. There is a scroll bar, and it says Description and repeats the message for a 3rd time!

Another note: Brass (copper and zinc) and Stainless steel (steel with chromium and molybdenum) are both alloys. I couldn't find any mention of a stainless alloy that included brass, but I'm NOT a metallurgist by any stretch of the imagination. I think the brass/stainless is a creation of the seller.

It looks a lot like the Atlas 'fiber ties with the rail stapled to the ties' track that they made for HO and may have made for O. I have seen (and may have had some) of the track in the photo but two-rail code 172 or so and brass.

I thought for the comic effect I could be given a little lee-way with the dreaded 3 rail subject here on the infinitely more pleasing 2 rail forum!!

You did exactly that Peter, at least for the majority of us.

Re: I've not seen this track before now.............
Our friends on OGR are once again lamenting the inside third rail, and dreaming of ways to hide it, all the while insisting that one reason they like 3-rail track is they are attracted to its "traditional" appearance.
A couple of posters suggested selling and buying 2-rail, others have made the common mistake of thinking that Hi Rail cannot be done in O scale without a center rail, so switch to American Flyer S Scale.
Some may remember that guy who invested a lot of time and effort into stud rail, with pretty much favorable results - then came to the fairly obvious conclusion that it was simply easier and cheaper to convert to 2-rail.
Bottom line - the OP's buddies convinced him that producing a line of track with a less obtrusive center rail and better looking ties would be a not very good way to spend his hobby time.
History repeats itself?

Our buddy Jonathan just bought a doorstop! He is apparently a giant help to the GGD folks and has long been a 3-railer. Now he has come to the dark side. I would welcome him if I could - I used to have his e-mail.
He will be challenged - it is a Walthers Polydrive!
