Sadly, another child who never paid attention to his fathers hobby. Most O scalers are more than happy to discuss their models and values and certainly their pride and joy and this was certainly his fathers "pride and joy".
The Pantera finished cars are suspect as Dan's signature detailing including outlining the windows in silver and also added the car number to each car in the cast in area....none of these have it......but, maybe the father chose not too.
(6) Wasatch cars with boxes. $6000 to $7500. Never see them bring less that $1000 each, unless unpainted and painted and with interiors will bring closer to the $1500 mark for the domes and some others. Overland E units, $750 each, in todays market. Other brands of cars $200-300 each depending on quality. I think he's at least double what the package is worth.
Qualifier: Wasatch cars and boxes have to be in like new condition.

Re: Optimist
Is it just me or does anybody know about what time period UP started painting trucks silver instead of gray?
Re: Optimist
1955-56 and conversion program took until the early 60's to complete. Silver or Aluminum paint showed cracks better than gray paint.

He's going to own it for a long time or forever at that price. And he appears very "austere" in his sales approach.

He should pull a Bill Davis and make certain he's got a bunch of watchers. Then relist it at .99 no reserve and watch the fun begin. Even though I don't think it would get anywhere close to current asking price.
Thanks for the info on the truck paint UP148
