Alas, no digital cam or cell phone.

Here is the Squaw Creek. I need to get skinnier handrail stanchions.

Yeah Bob that's pretty lame even for my crappy standards for photos; blurry image aside it does look pretty good. Kudo's to both you and Jim for bringing Alan's project further forward. Please tell me you''ll glaze the windows? install the screens?

Yes, but first I have a number of passenger cars to "glaze" including a dome car. Not looking forward to it.

On the book - I really like photo books. I am looking for something like my Morning Sun "Passenger Alcos" by Jim Boyd, only concentrating on E-7s instead of PAs. Jim sent O Scale elevation prints, so I am ok modeling- wise.

Re-do, but poor lighting. I really need to research skinnier U channel for the handrails.

I like it, but then I am a fan of six-axle power anyway.

I absolutely demand that ALL my rolling stock and motive power have at minimum, two axles!

Oh, yeah, I like axles. Shall we divert back into steam doorstops? I have two Scale Craft Mikado boilers, and three tenders, and four mechanisms, that allow me to have one each of 2-8-2, 2-10-2, 4-8-2, and 4-6-2. Not all at once, mind you, but at least I have the option. The Mountain and Pacific share the same cylinders and valve gear, so my photo essay (done in 30 minutes flat) shows a rod-less Mountain.

The Mike tender and the one off the track are both scratch. I would not use the original SC tender for an actual doorstop - too ugly. The Mike tender is a copy of an early ATSF Mallet tender from about 1910. And yes, the Santa Fe used Pullman trucks under some tenders.

The Pacific is now doing duty under a beat-up All Nation boiler, and is running like a watch. Sometimes the ugliest stuff runs the best. The AN boiler is another that can be converted - this boiler sat on a Mike mechanism for a decade before getting its ATSF wheels. Here it is sniffing for peanuts - fixed later by lowering the rear mount.

I have a bunch of doorstop 2-8-0s. I was tempted to bid on the one with brass drivers on eBay, but I already have way too many.

This ought to get its own thread, but in the interest of preserving the preceding photos, I will tack it here.

My Adams fleet of E7s is ok, but I am not 100% happy with my latest attempt at built-up sides. The rivet strips are too wide and those mid-carbody windows devilishly hard to do in brass without casting.

So, given my success with the Erie- Built, I have decided on sand cast sides - a pair of aluminum ones for the B unit, and two pairs of brass/bronze for the A.

First attempt was in styrene. I did not get very far, and went on to more pleasurable tasks. Finally an e- mail to Scott Mann, confessing my nefarious intentions, got me some E7 bodies at a vey favorable price, and thanks to Maroon I have some Keil line white metal window frames - so now it is just whether the foundry still likes me. More in a bit, with photos.
