That's easy to deal with; some 20-30% acetic acid for 20 min and a methanol wash and its gone, and ready to paint. Or, use 5-10% muriatic, rinse and go paint.

You will have to excuse the difficulty understanding how I got "no big deal" from "That's easy to deal with;" followed by a list of chemical washes right off the top of your head.
Maybe it's just cultural...or your use of big words from time to time, the meanings of which we may only vaguely perceive, in hopes such cupidity will send us scampering to our dictionary.
It does seem the evilbait mantra is such a desire for wealth..or at least goods.

Take a deep breath. The only sane person who would bid on this would look past the description and bid on the parts shown. Nobody would be misled.

Only the blind and ignorant all so mercifully free from the ravages of intelligence........being led by the blind might be misled....and even they will note the flaws through tactile inspection.

This thread has accomplished only the irritation of many electrons.

Is this then the endpoint of O scale, sitting about virtually discussing the flaws of kits and models half as old as time or stuff that only the very few can begin to afford?

Apparently no one here does any actual model RR'ing anymore.

That chassis looks pretty good and might be worth about what is bid. The rest is not worth anything too me. Too rough, too beat up, too many parts missing. Of course if you buy it, you could go to P&D and PSC and send a couple of hundred on detail parts to finish - - but wait, only one chassis, what do you do to power the other unit. So if the price goes up, I think it is a real dud.

And as someone said, the nose on the CLWs is all totally wrong - it matches no known prototype in the western world.
