Passenger Cars
I was just "sharpening up" my images and noted that I have some shots of Pomona Valley cars. I will present them here, and then go on to bore you with Exacta, some Kasiner, my oft-repeated Walthers, and maybe some others. Great fun - so here's a couple, and I am off to the airport:

And Centholm - who can forget this name?
Might be Pomona, might be JC. Not an expert.

Re: Passenger Cars
All 4 look sharp Bob!!!
Timely, this just reminded me I forgot to put handrails on the Walthers coach I've been posting about. I'm still waiting on decals from Jack McGarry so I have time.
Are the Pomona cars aluminum? What brand trucks did you use?
When I started in O scale I told myself I wouldn't do passenger cars...18 cars later I think it's safe to say I've changed my mind. If GGD ever comes thru on the Silver Meteor that'll add at least 7 cars to the herd. I think my plans to enlarge my layout are only to give the passenger trains a chance to stretch their legs

Can't wait to see the others.

Re: Passenger Cars
Nice cars indeed Mr Turner, The Pomona Valley's are intriguing, I've only seen one or two of your extruded examples float by on da'bay and I didn't get them.
I assume the fluted roof is a metal wrapper over wood? To answer Bob D's question I believe these are actually spot-welded sheet steel with wood floors and roofs.
They're 17/64's and noticeably larger than BC-M's, Walthers or other manufacturers of similar PS plans. I have two PV's but they're based on pre-war PS cars,

Here's a 4-4-2 car body sporting a zync-cromate coat as these rust easily, they have a strange hardware store quality to them. Note the nifty little upper windows, the BC-Models version of this plan has them too, but the Walthers version does not.

Here's a 12-5 duplex I did around 2011 (I know I posted both of these here before the great purge when I didn't know what manufacturer they were,
the 4-4-2 will get finished to go with it. I'm always interested in Pomona Valley models and wonder if anyone has one of the two unit Denver Zephyr
locomotive sets they catalogued in 1940. That would be interesting to see.

Re: Passenger Cars
Hopefully more folks will join Pete and post some cars. I believe the corrugated cars are monel metal. The heavyweights went to Allan Wehrle. That is how I met him. Not sure where the corrugated cars went. I'll put some more here later.

Bob, I have a scan of the 1940 PV catalog and your "Centholm" is actually pictured on Page 21 in the Pullman Cars section lettered "San Juan" or something like that(blurry) I guess a sleeper lounge? An example of your AT&SF coaches is in there too.

Re: Passenger Cars
That is neat info - Allan had said they were PV.
Here are a few more - first, a re-run of the Exacta. I shortened it quite a bit, since the Harrimans were generally not 90 feet long. I used Walthers roof and ends.
Here is one I did in the mid 1950s, and stole a pair of Egolf trucks off a card stock car that went to Dan Henon. I got the car itself in a sale in Philadelphia of a bunch of Egolf and Icken stuff. $350 for an Icken M1 was too much for me - took me a month to make that much.
Here is a Walthers car - it has a removable roof. It came from OSW some years back, painted Daylight. Note how the roof fails to perfectly mate:
That's enough for today.

Re: Passenger Cars
Hello all passenger car admirers
Recently going through Model Railroading 1947 .. lots of fun stuff. Joe Fischer regularly had an ad for his custom cars ...wow they were expensive big time ! 35.00 up for a nice car up to 80+ for interior and lights .
At the March meet there were a number of lovely Fischer cars available ..I had no idea his production went back so far .
How long was Joe Fischer building cars ? Joe must have built up a faithful wealthy group of "wide-awake" clients to keep him building passenger cars for many years.
Does anyone have Joe's price list or flyer ?
Cheers Carey

Re: Passenger Cars
These coaches and baggage where built by the late Bill Russel of Fort Washington, PA. in the late 1960's.

Here are some Walthers cars. Shasta was built by person unknown, and has a full interior.

Re: Passenger Cars
I would have deleted one of the last two, but do not know how to do that. it ought to be simple.
