Last time I attended an auction of an big estate collection of brass, better than 90% of the buying was by 3-5 dealers - very little was bought by hobbyists due to the prices that were achieved. This of course raised the question of just who the dealers were selling to if they were outbidding their customers..........

I have since minimalized my involvement in such events.
As the literacy rate declines, you’ll ask yourself why the quality of life continues to deteriorate in ways large and small, and in almost every instance the answer will be: because people stopped reading.

Hard to believe Jim Seacrest has been gone for ten years! He was a good guy - always overpaid those of us who worked with him on his projects.

His was a cautionary tale - always put in writing what you want to happen with your train collection when you croak.

I realize this forum is on a shoestring, but it is still a shame to have lost so many photos.

I have a copy of that letter you wrote Jeff, and Jeff’s, the inheritacracy got it, despite its rightful owners wishes. What a sad state of affairs. That City of Portland by Dan Pantera was on eBay for years after Jim passed. I guess a son in law loaded it up along with a Suburban full, ran off. Good grief.
