Well, I thought it was a pretty good model. Next we have a P-77 Pacific in 17/64, still awaiting a proper UP tender:

Dave will get after me - this photo was before I re-gauged the track. This thing runs pretty good - those giant 84" Lobaugh cast iron drivers really grip the rails - I make the insulated tires out of iron pipe, and it too is grabby.
You guys should give Erik at least some kind of hello - he only comes by every six months or so . . .

Re: Union Pacific vol 2
That's it for UP Steam around my place, at least until the older Challenger photos drop out of the preceding pages. On to Diesels, of which I only have a few in UP colors.
This one is one of my favorites - sand-cast CLW with a single 12,000 series Pittman (way bigger than the 9,000 series, and really slow) but with age the sprockets have all split. Maybe someday I will get new ones in glass-filled Celcon, or metal from Jay C?
Be sure and note the trucks under the K-Line car. I found a master of unknown provenance, and Dennis cast me several sets. My dentist friend did the mold in non-shrink stuff, so I did not lose much dimensionally. I don't really know much about UP passenger trucks, even though I have the Kratville book, but I suspect these were not under the completely smooth-sided cars. Happy anyway. Three of my K-Lines have correct Wasatch UP trucks, in case anybody might like to know. I can pretty much guarantee these fine cars will be on the market within the next two decades.

Here is the same PA with an etched CLW PB attached. We are pretty sure these things are closer to 17/64 than to 1/4" scale.

This one is Exacta. It probably needs some windshield work. Maybe next year . . .

Re: Union Pacific vol 2
Neat Exacta, cleaner than some the others I've seen casting wise too. Like your PA's too. I'm always wondering about how they would look with glazing, complete cab window frames. headlight lenses etc. Some valve and hose "Candy" on the pilots can look good too.

Thanks Pete - I was afraid nobody was looking. I was just about to make a liberal crack, to see if there were any lurkers.
Yes, I believe window framing is all this one needs, along with the All Nation F3/F7 castings. I did add some metal to one of Jim's castings, and we have a PA nose waiting at the foundry that got some wax around the windows.
I know some do window frames - see Jim's U-50 for good examples - but I have yet to try it. If you have hints, put them in this thread, and I will give it a try.
Speaking of U-50s:

Thanks, Jim.
I note that I can no longer watch TV while I construct boilers and tender sides (I become nauseous) - so you may see even more of me here. My other outlet is going straight up in a 450 Stearman - that makes all other thoughts go to the very back of the brain! It is like riding a rocket ship!
This qualifies as Union Pacific, even though not a locomotive:

Last one - a boxcar of ill repute. Sure, I have a Sunset caboose and a couple of All Nation UP cars, but they are way too common for a photo essay. This is my last post here, until whoever it is decides that my links are obsolete and we need to renew the photos.

I had toyed with the idea of posting something controversial, to see if there is any life at all left here, but I have decided that my politics are now simply obsolete, and things have changed drastically. I suspect there will be no going back.
I am going to make it - none of this will affect me personally - unless Fidelity goes bankrupt.

Thanks! You are a “first responder!”
No, I am still here, along with you and four others. Maybe 2-rail is dying - OGR 2-rail gets a post every two days as well.
Usually when I make some liberal comment, somebody goes apoplectic! Otherwise, almost nobody is here.
Part of the problem is photos require a “host.” But OGR is a host - post a photo there, right-click, and bring it here. Probably better than Shutterfly.

Bob It’s hard to use the other forum or OGR as a host for pics when your not welcome. This could be based on weither you subscribe to the mag or not, not sure.I did join there YouTube channel, I dont know If that would open the door to re-joining. The truth is the Facebook page is so easy to do pics on. I really don’t like the way subjects don’t flow on Facebook thou, just me maybe. Sorry don’t have much UP to contribute it’s al bouring brass no doorstops, scale craft I do have a Lobaugh challenger , but it’s in need of a lot more parts.

Re: Union Pacific vol 2
Okay got to thinking, if you can use OGR as a host why not facebook. Ive all ready shared this pic Im sure. This model came to me via three other people over a space of years, from France and finally to me in Australia. It has some interesting modifications.Re: Union Pacific vol 2
Yeah, the photo posting on this forum is a real PITA. Having to post to a separate hosting service and then on to this forum is more trouble than I care to endure. I know, I'm lazy.
BUT, I'm so glad this forum exist and for your and other members photos and posts. O scale isn't dead, but certainly seeing and feeling the decline of our community.

Looks good to me....I wouldn't mess with it, but that's just me.
