Re: Actual Modeling
Thanks for all the photos and the track plan, too. That really helps to give some scale and scope of the operation!
Some people have no idea what they are doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.

Re: Actual Modeling
Perspective...the back fence (top of map) is about 130' side to side.
Specifically designed as narrow gauge (1:20.3=3'. 1:24=3'6", 1:22.5=metre, and other obscure permutations), but since it's all #1 gauge trackage, we have had F-7's with full passenger trains, just for grins.

Dave,
Thanks for all the photos and info of your layout.
Although with your hip and leg problems it may
be hard to keep it going it is something that you
should be happy and proud to have.

Re: Actual Modeling
The oil tank rebuild is progressing. Photos have been taken along the way. Support structure assembled, painted, mounted to bottom of tank, pedestals installed, assembled to base, awaiting glue dry.
Platform and steps were rebuilt some years ago, need support modifications to clear the new structure supports, and I'll get photos up.

Oh, lord. The refer car icing house is Ice Station Zebra...submarines, right?
Confusion Junction.....folks get messed up there. Whiterock, because the supporting wall is...white rocks.
Good Old Boy's Cigar Company.
Malfunction Junction....before low voltage yard lights went in, we had a tripod with two Halogen work lamps in the middle of Steven's Canyon, but Bald Mountain blocked the light from getting to...Malfunction.
My brother Pete is bald...and allegic to scents...no deodorant....Pete's Pit Mine on Bald Mountain.
Highpoint was....before Bald Mountain went in.
When a train left for the far end of the line....the old Spiritual..."This Train is Bound For Glory"
Mehus Dairy and Mehus Siding...original owners across the fence were Mehus.
Laurel Yard beneath the spreading Laurel Bush (big as a tree, now).
Lower Laurel is the loop that effectively runs around that Laurel bush.
Big Foot Grocery Warehouse. Lower Laurel was not part of the first build on the line, but the tunnel was installed under Laurel Yard. Finished the line, and the first train out of the tunnel (at night) happened to be Brother Pete's Eurotrash (LGB 0-6-6-0T Americanized with tender and cab) was kicked by another operator stepping over the new line...engine landed out in the middle of the lawn. Now operators on the lower line switching Big Foot Grocery (or approaching the tunnel) are required to announce "Big Foot!" to operators at Laurel Yard or Pete's Pit.
Eno Junction is first junction out of the terminal..."one" spelled backwards.......
Not sure if I got them all....just memory...

Re: Actual Modeling
Dave, Again GREAT stuff!
A lot more fun than worrying if it is prototypical or not!

Oh...and each locale is designated by a two letter telegraph code. Whiterock is "WR", Good old Boys is "GB"....so designated on the waybills issued.. and on our laminated route maps.

Re: Actual Modeling

Remains of support structure uprights. All cross bracing was kindling.

Basic structure uprights and cross bracing.

Primed, set in place under tank.

Painted, glued and screwed onto base with old, previously done landing and steps installed.

In place. I have since done a bit more leveling and rock, dragged another delivery truck in.

I gather that they were considered humorous. Don't ask me why; they bore me beyond stupefaction. Slap the smaller Italian guy in the face.
Anyway, I like your garden layout. The curved trestle bridge is very interesting, and adds drama to the trains crossing it.
