This is the toy train mentality of the seller.

You can’t blame the seller. People are bidding.

Original box and condition has always been a big issue for brass buyers. I've seen it affect the sale of a nice locomotive or structure by way more than the $30 each this auction is at now. Also, when someone states "like new and test run only" but doesn't have the original box, it sure sends a red flag up for me.

But, I don't buy any longer so I don't care either way now.

Some of the lots of boxes have minimal or no bids.

A decent box used to cost some $'s -- Reboxx(?) used to sell replacement and custom boxes with foam for most scale and in an array of sizes. For folks that scratchbuild or have custom built engines, they provided an option for storing one's trains.

I could use a series of boxes for all of my trolleys.......
I expect nothing and I’m still let down.

Rebox sales no O scale boxes and mainly out of business.

That's NOT what it says on their website:

http://reboxx.com/

I haven't verified things one way or another, but I think it would be prudent to not make announcements for someone else's business.

How about that neat Lobaugh box you can have for 15 bucks? It has been on eBay for more than two years continuously.

This all makes more sense to me than almost a billion bucks for Faberge eggs.

Well please verify. Try to order an O scale box for a particular size model you may need.
you may get one he has in stock and he has not restocked sizes for several years. His price were approaching close to
100.00 per box. If this suet's you go for it. I found him very unreliable.

Note the words used to sell. I made no claim otherwise.

Yeah, a lot of things have changed. I saw in an old OSN magazine (1999 or 2000) they offered a good size box 22" x 12" x 6" for $65.

With a sheet of cardboard, a hot glue gun, straight edge. x acto knive and general math skills you could roll your own box.

Unless one is a slave to some "original box syndrome" various sizes can be had fairly reasonably from different sources. Boxes are nothing more to me to me than storage devices and protection for shipping. The right kind of foam would be much more of a concern to me. Cardboard is...............cardboard!
