We all have our opinions, but as usual in the country, the knee jerk reaction to any real or perceive issue, is to overcompensate in the opposite direction. There is no middle ground or at least not for long.....it's always one extreme or the other. :(

" by treating them as the psychotic wretches they are. It's dead simple."

Try a little humility. The physicians and scientists who study these issues disagree with your formulation 100%, except for a few misguided wretches whose prejudices overwhelm any intellectual insights. It's not dead simple at all. It's barbaric prejudice against those different from yourself. Progress requires that new understandings of long standing phenomena be studied and understood. Once upon a time, we thought women were too frail and unreliable to vote, own property or head a household. Once upon a time, we thought people of color where mentally inferior. If you still believe these things, you are indeed, barbaric and misinformed. Same with the objection to gender dysphoric issues where anatomy and sexuality are not in sync. They are not psychotic anymore than you or I. Just unhappy and dysfunctional in their current state. Unhappiness is not a crime. If you want to live in the world governed by the Old Testament and its 2000-3000 year old understanding of nature and human beings, I hope you will be terribly disappointed. A good bit of culture, civilization and modern science has been created by people who are not straight, Church going and obedient to millenia old ideas.

"Whether the nominee is Trump or DeSantis - they will get my vote."

And whoever is the nominee of the Democrats will get mine, and probably more than Trump or DeSantis. If this were Canada, Britain, France or Germany, the nominee with the most votes or party support from votes would win. Only in the USA does a citizen of Wyoming or Montana, etc. get to have their vote count more than a vote from a citizen of California, New York or Illinois. :) It's been a rare day in November, when a Republican nominee for President has received more votes than the Democratic nominee. You guys ain't the majority, to put it plainly. We are :). Most people aren't afraid of people different from themselves being allowed to live their lives in peace without fearing injury, death, insult or discrimination.

"But, don't cater to them, while dissing the rest of the population."

Preventing teen and young adult suicide by informing the population that there are individuals whose anatomy and sexuality are not in sync, and this is biologic, not a social construct, doesn't diss me or you. Allowing folks whose sexuality is fluid or homosexual to live with the same political, economic and legal rights as straight people doesn't deprive straight people of their rights, or diss them. This progress allows freedom and safety to the minority without in any way dissing or injuring others. It's called freedom, and freedom from fear. It's a step forward in being humane to others. You know, the idea that the poor, for example, are just as good as the rest of us. The main message of Jesus, for example, in the New Testament. That was progress in its time.

Electoral college. the dems don't want to change that either. My biggest opposition to open primaries comes from two ladies on the democrat's committee. Most people i spoke to want some kind of election reform. Most of that reform would be in the area of the primaries. In Pa. it is all but over by the time the primary rolls around here. More than half the people i talked to are tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. They want better candidates.
I can tell you from going to school board meetings trans students don't fear their peers. They fear some whacko with a gun on the street. I can tell you the majority of angry adults pushing bigotry. " don't have kids in the school system. I can tell you the majority of those fighting for above and beyond trans rights " don't have kids in the school system. Most of the parents with kids in school want to move on let kids be kids. As i said earlier. "Trans students don't feel threatened from other students" Trans students can get a special ride to school. This is so they don't need to stand on the street corner for 15 minutes waiting for a bus. Remember i said " They fear some whack on the street" Trans student can receive half a day education from a special school. This school is better at serving emotional needs and health needs of said students. 146 kids attend this school. you can have a morning session or afternoon session. I don't know if all trans students attend. I was told by a few committee people to "run for school board". After attending a few meetings. " i said no way" These meetings can only ruin a person not help them. They have fist fights there and it's not parents fighting. You can find CBSD sued by the ACLU online. The school district is said to have stepped on the rights of trans kids. by not letting people born males play in female sports.
I try to confuse them all by saying true Christians can forgive Pontius Pilate

Just saying equal rights for all and all treated the same or as close to the same, as possible. My grand kids, in grade schoo, have textbooks that not only discuss sexual transgendering, but support it. Come on, young kids in grade school have enough to understand about our world, without throwing in BS like that.

It's not just me, but parents all over the country are upset that schools teach this. Schools, businesses, etc., are trying to be "politically correct" so they don't get singled out for "not caring". But, in the process of being "politically correct" the majority have to suffer through this BS and are young children are being confused.

That's how I feel and I won't discuss the point further. You either see the problems this creates or you don't. We are truly a polarized nation.

Neil, it is obvious that you hate the Electoral College. It is also painfully obvious that you believe in ONE PARTY RULE, ie whatever the majority of the most populistic states want. Maybe you've forgotten, or maybe you're just too stupid to know that 70% of America's population is center right, though your party and the media are trying desperately to convince us otherwise. Would you prefer that your party change their name to Democratic Socialists of America? At least that would be truthful. How about it, COMRADE? :x

Suffering? There's part of the problem - too much hyperbole tossed about.

and are young children are being confused.

Supposedly children have parents that might actually understand their role as parents. Looking, reading, and listening, I have grave doubts that that's true today. I have been sorely underwhelmed with what I have seen in the behavior of parents; pervasive ignorance, irresponsibility, and flat out stupidity seem endemic. Sadly, there's no licensing to have children....

This is a book they want in middle school. I believe kids can see more graphic things on their cellphones. I personally don't approve of it for 12-14 year old kids. I have no problem with kids needing a note from home to check out this book ( if their parent approves it why should i stop it?). I can not get the local school librarian to say how many books are signed out a year. I don't think many books get viewed in our middle school. Kids only have 4 minutes between classes to get to their next class. No real time to head over to the library. If this book is in or not in our school library i don't really care. teach your own kid not to be bothered by it. On the flipside it would bother me if it were banned from the public library. I would still like to see it carry an age restriction there. for what it's worth nobody can say if this book is slated to be purchased by the school or if the school has any founding to buy books next year. They fight like hell over this one. Some say" it is being banned due to a queer author" others say It's "due to the graphic nature"

"How about it, COMRADE?"

If government providing food, shelter and health care to the poor and working class at reasonable prices and availability, education for all and making illegal advocating violence and discrimination against any group is being a socialist or communist, then you can probably include John Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John McCain in your salutation. You've been brainwashed by those who are captives of the wealthy and powerful to advocate against your own well being, since I doubt you are a billionaire :). "To provide for the common welfare..." Doesn't specify only provide for white male upper middle class or wealthy heterosexuals as I recall.

"Government is instituted for the common good…and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men,” John Adams wrote."

"maybe you're just too stupid to know "

What is really stupid is someone who is not wealthy supporting a party that caters to the rich and powerful and ignores the needs of the poor, working class and middle class. You can only convince the most ignorant and foolish that "tax cuts for the rich" is a policy that has any virtue whatever except for the very wealthy. It certainly doesn't create jobs or wealth for others over the last 30 years.

There's a reason Pluto (the dog, not the planet) is an important part of Plutocracy. Perhaps you'd like to reinstate monarchy, so the popular will counts for nothing? We've seen what powerful minorities can do in societies, whether they be monarchies, fascist states or communist states. You want Red China, but with the Republicans in charge instead of the Communists. :) The people be damned. As Churchill said, democracy is the worst system except for all the other systems. Don't be a sore loser, that's not very American either.

While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. What does this mean? “Constitutional” refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States.

Distinguishing between a Democracy and a Republic
The United States is not a democracy, and the Founders used strong words to make clear that their nation
should never become one.
Consider the following statements:

Benjamin Rush: “A simple democracy ...
is one of the greatest of evils” (1789).

James Madison: “Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found
incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their
lives as they have been violent in their deaths” (1787).

John Adams: “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a
democracy yet that did not commit suicide” (1814).

Thomas Jefferson
"An elective despotism was not he government we fought for..." (1782)

Edmund Randolph:
"That in tracing these evils to their origin every man had found it in the turbulence
and follies of
democracy.” (1787)

John Marshall:
"Between a balanced republic and a democracy
the difference is like that between order and chaos."
The simple fact is that the United States
is a
republic
(and a constitutional republic at that)
, not a democracy
, by purposeful design

The founding fathers also thought slavery was just fine and women shouldn’t vote or have civil liberties. They got lots of stuff totally wrong by today’s standards. Democracies have done real well in the entire English speaking world now for the better part of two centuries since these folks died. Now only would be tyrants and sore losers defend minority rule.

Only in the USA does a small minority of deranged individuals think they have the right to impose their religious belief structures, racism, xenophobia and hatred of others on the majority. That's why Republicans, who represent these misguided and barbaric individuals, keep losing the popular vote nationally in both Congressional and Presidential elections by millions of votes in total. Ignoring the will of the people doesn't work well in the long run. Just ask the dead kings and queens of Europe :).

The majority should always respect the rights of the minority unless the minority's desires and needs hurts others or society in general. For the minority to disrespect the rights of the majority is the recipe for becoming irrelevant or worse in the future. Right now, the Republican party is evolving to become the Whig party of the 1850s, eventually to disappear as an effective political force. If you don't represent the will of the people and ignore changes in the world, and shun progress, you are doomed to irrelevance.

Staking your claim to rule on erroneous ideas such as "climate change doesn't exist," "bail reform is responsible for the increased murder rate," "the pandemic is just a head cold," "inflation is controlled by the government," "election fraud is a common and large problem" and "immigrants are the source of most of our problems" just demonstrates that stupidity is apparently contagious and widespread. These contentions are truly idiotic with little to no relevance in the real world. A party that espouses them is doomed, even if most of the party is sane. Tolerating and playing to the depraved minority within who believe crazy or evil things is a sign of failure.

Absolutely 100% correct. And, it even goes further. Many in our generation failed horribly to teach our children to be responsible and make them accountable for their decisions. When I see people in our generation running around with piercings, tatoo's, long hair on men and behaving the same way they did when they were in their 20's and 30's, it sickens me. I always thought as you got older you automatically became wiser because life taught you lessons, but that's not the case. Stupid has no age limit and although people are guaranteed to grow older, becoming wiser is an option. I see people of our generation still making the same irresponsible decisions and their lives and their children's lives reflect it. And, it is getting worse.
