I have my doubts that the entire expedition was a good idea.

Maybe Wayne can explain it. I can't.
I can't figure out who the woman was and where she came from after Cain was cast out of the garden and took her for a wife when he went to another land.

I'm sure that a good totally implausible conspiracy theory can be employed to explain it all.

I thought it was Adam and Eve that got tossed from the garden for eating the forbidden fruit. As for Cain's woman, probably got her from some dating site.

...the same wondering can fit the question (that I’ve long had) concerning the “mark” put on Cain to identify him as cursed and deserving of scorn and rejection from all other peoples once he was banished and condemned to roam the Earth? Scorned and shunned by Whom !?!?

Re: The more I get to know people
Do you know what happened to the husband and daughters of the wife who was turned to salt after turning to take a look at the being-destroyed communities of Sodom and Gomorrah ? How their bereavement situation eventually played-out ?

The husband would be LOT. he went to live in Zoar. But he leaves Zoar and goes to live in a cave with his daughters, who get their father drunk on wine and lay with him so they both conceive his children. Their descendants are, respectively, the Moabites and the children of Ammon.

Scorned and shunned by his father, mother, brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces.
Genesis 5:4
4 After becoming a father to Seth, Adam lived for 800 years. And he became a father to sons and daughters.

The woman was one of Cain's sisters or nieces. Adam continued to have sons and daughters, maybe for 800 years after the birth of son #3, Seth. Adam's brothers and sisters had children. One of Adam's descendants was Lamech, Noah's father, and Adam lived long enough to see Lamech, the ninth generation of people. Using an extremely conservative population increase of 1.5 percent per year, there would have been 774,000,000 people alive at the time of the flood!”
Cain probably did not choose a wife immediately because he was marked. It is possible that he had hundreds of choices by the time he chose a wife.
