The world view

Time to shift gears and talk abut what will happen this year

Latest message from North Korea's Kim meant to light 'a fire under' Biden administration, experts say
https://news.yahoo.com/latest-message-n ... 07147.html

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called the United States his biggest enemy and vowed to subdue Washington while enhancing Pyongyang's nuclear arsenal, the state's Korean Central News Agency reported Saturday, per Bloomberg.

Kim's aggressive remarks, especially those related to nuclear weapons, are viewed by experts as a message to the incoming Biden administration. "It lights a fire under the Biden administration," Ankit Panda, a Stanton Senior Fellow in the Nuclear Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, told Bloomberg. "Kim is making clear that if Biden decides not to prioritize North Korea policy, Pyongyang will resume testing and qualitatively advancing its nuclear capabilities in ways that would be seriously detrimental for Washington and Seoul."

Cheon Seong-whun, a former president of the government-funded Korea Institute for National Unification think tank in Seoul, added that Kim is trying to pressure Biden into accepting North Korea as a nuclear state, and he expects Pyongyang to move forward with a series of provocations after the White House transition.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards unveil underground missile base in Gulf: state media
https://news.yahoo.com/iran-guards-unve ... 50835.html

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards unveiled an underground missile base at an undisclosed Gulf location on Friday, Iranian state media reported, at a time of heightened tension between Tehran and the United States.

"The base is one of several bases housing the Guards' Navy's strategic missiles," the state media quoted the head of the Guards, Major General Hossein Salami, as saying.

Last year, the Guards said Iran had built underground “missile cities” along the Gulf coastline, warning of a “nightmare for Iran’s enemies”.

"These missiles have ranges of hundreds of kilometres, enjoy pinpoint accuracy and huge destructive power, and can overcome the enemy’s electronic warfare equipment," Salami said.

He said the base was "one of several bases housing the Navy’s strategic missiles".

There have been periodic confrontations in the Gulf in recent years between the Guards and the U.S. military, which has accused the Guards’ navy of sending fast attack boats to harass U.S. warships as they pass the Strait of Hormuz.

Tensions have been high between Tehran and Washington since 2018, when President Donald Trump exited the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers which limits the Islamic Republic's nuclear programme and reimposed sanctions that have crippled the country's economy.

Here is one summary of the lies being told by a large segment of the population to justify their hatred and fear regarding the coming changes, all of which are well underway. The successor "lost cause" to the big lie of the honorable "lost cause" of Southern independence, which has supported racism for 150 years, and is finally dying out (the asswhole with the Confederate flag in the Capitol building not withstanding).

"Mr. Trump’s Lost Cause takes its fuel from conspiratorial myths of all kinds, rehearsed for years on Trump media and social media platforms. Its guiding theories include: Christianity under duress and attack; large corrupt cities full of Black and brown people manipulated by liberal elites; Barack Obama as alien; a socialist movement determined to tax you into subservience to “big government”; liberal media out to crush family and conservative values; universities and schools teaching the young a history that hates America; resentment of nonwhite immigrants who threaten a particular national vision; and whatever hideous new version of a civil religion QAnon represents."

Interesting take on the parallels between the Southern Lost Cause and the possible coming "Trump's Lost Cause" by David Blight, a historian at Yale, that notorious center for the gay, trans, people of color and liberals who are coming to steal your daughters and your hard earned money, not to mention force you to use expensive solar power :). Not to mention force us to deal with the socialist horror of healthcare for all.

Once Biden dissolves all the police depts in this country and gives the money to social services to serve the people Like BLM wants most of that racism will be gone.

All interesting BS but OUR new president is going to have his hands full with Iran. the middle east, NK and especially Russia and China. Under Biden China will become the next world power and an economic power house that displaces the United States.

I'm not saying he is going to help them do it. He will be powerless to stop them...I don't think Trump could fix that either.

This world is heading for a massive showdown

No one is dissolving police departments, just trying to get rid of the kind of racists and lunatics who would join in the Capitol ransacking. And reforming the police so they are accountable for actions that are not defensible. That's one thing Trump was right about, a minority of police account for both abusive conduct and systemic racism in the police force.

As for the international scene, nobody knows what the hell is going to happen, so good luck predicting anything about anything. If we weren't so concerned about oil and Israel, we'd never care about Iran at all. Hardly a strategic issue for us, but the right has managed to make it into a strategic issue because they have this crazy idea that we can tell the rest of the world how to work. On that, you and I seem to agree. Idiocy like Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan needs to stop, whether it's Lyndon Johnson or Dubya, it's destructive and no one wins. Lots of people die and lots of money is wasted.

China needs us and we need China. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out, and only morons will manage to get us into a war over the areas of conflict and competition. Unfortunately we've had a good supply of morons on both sides.

OUR president my foot. The Democrats and media stole the election for him, he is too stupid and tired himself. A illegitimate president we don't have a president.

Invest in Alcoa - sales of aluminum foil for making hats is going to explode in the near future.

"OUR president my foot."

Well, your foot is egregiously misinformed. There is not a shred of evidence that he didn't win this election by about 7 million plus votes. Despite what our psychopath, traitor of a president would have you believe.

It's time for the rule of law to be followed. Conservatives want looters arrested. No argument there. Now we have a good number of conservatives who are being arrested. Hundreds of people who trashed the Capitol are eventually going to be charged with various counts of assault and illegal possession of weapons/explosives, and at least one person who is potentially going to wind up on federal death row or life in prison for murder or manslaughter of a peace officer. And an ex-President who is likely to never be allowed to hold federal office ever again, justly so given his violation of the Constitution by advocating insurrection.

One of Trumps policy's was America first. Now Biden seems to be continuing that with "BUY AMERICAN"

However American's have proven that they don't care, They will buy from wherever they can get it the cheapest even if it is made with slave Uighurs that are held in Chinese government-run detention centers.

Now maybe will will get to see if Biden and the democrats promote the CPTPP ( Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership ) a free trade agreement with 10 other countries in the Asia-Pacific: Australia, Brunei, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.

The Asian countries have made it easier for foreign companies to invest and shift production to their countries. How many more American companies will take advantage of that. How many more lost good paying jobs

I am way more interested in where this country is headed under new leadership than I am with what happens to Trump.

Like I have said before when it comes to DC it will be the same circus just different clowns tooting their horns and being silly.
