I agree, it looks like an oilite bearing mounted in a locomotive frame.

Hmmm...good guesses but not quite. Here's another look:

Remember, these are not necessarily railroad-related. One of Dirt's started with the head-end of the rein-rail on a horse-drawn sleigh.
