Mythbusters tested the all right turn idea and found thatit did save some gas, probably not enough to help somebody driving their car but that it would save money for a company for a large fleet of trucks.

There are routes that I use when running errands to multiple locations in a tight area where I will avoid left turns simply because you can sit at an intersection 2-3 cycles - time is not only relative and money, but when in motion it is psychologically better spent particularly when you have good music available.
