Photobucket
Re: Photobucket
Is this Photobucket $399 price hike story for real? I have yet to see anything in the news, and this must be effecting hundreds of millions of users.

Re: Photobucket
Yes it's real. As news worthy as a turd on a stick.

That's the far top end account/plan. Way beyond almost anyone's needs....

Yup, but if I'm reading their revised terms correctly and you want 3rd Party image hosting that's what you're looking at:
Available Plus Account Plans : Photobucket offers the following Plus Account Plans:
o Plus 50 Plan: 52 GB of Storage for $59.99 / Year. The Plus 50 Plan does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting.
o Plus 100 Plan: 102 GB of Storage for $99.99 / Year. The Plus 100 Plan allows for unlimited image linking but does not allow 3rd party image hosting.
o Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting.

Yes, and that curiously leaves out the Plus 20 plan........

Apparently, Photobucket is serious: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-40492668
Wow. I think Photobucket has beaten Benedict Arnold's record, in terms of change in brand value.

Your problem will come when it's time to renew.

Jon and I are on the Plus 20 plan which is the bottom of the scale of free accounts; I might be using 10% of its capacity at the most. We get autobilled every month and I've never had to renew.
Photobucket offers these other Plus Account Plans:
o Plus 50 Plan: 52 GB of Storage for $59.99 / Year.
The $399 figure that everyone is wringing their hands over is the top of the list; Photobucket is doing away with all of the free accounts.

Seems to be working for me.
Seems to be an on and off proposition. Just now (July 4, 2017, 12:41 PM Tucson time) the locomotive image appears.
If you don't recognize it, it is the McKeen 1916 Box Cab Switcher.
It's off.
