Why is it om the Science Channel?

People build robots and let them fight it out 1 to 1 in a cage environment. It was kind of big a few years back on cable and apparently is in a resurgence - beats the snot out of the C- movies that SF runs way too often.

"Beats the snot out of..." now there's a classy remark I haven't heard in a while. I'm going to keep it in mind, waiting for the right audience.
Why does a shot of Rocky Balboa come to mind?

I'm thinking more like a shot of The Baron...

Maybe if the Science Channel had some of these robots. It would have better ratings.

These robots are already in use in Japanese hotels.

Maybe if they would focus on shows like The Expanse or Killjoys, they would.

The last two summers, BattleBots was on ABC. Before that, they ran several years on Comedy Central. I'm seeing a lot of the same participants, and "robots", year-after-year. That's not good. It looks like the rules are getting ossified, too. I can maybe understand that, when it comes to drag racing - fewer people dying. But, no one is dying, here. Why aren't there "robots" with high-powered lasers, or plasma cutters as weapons?

I expect that, if they take this to the next level, they''ll need to dispense with the live audience and glass battlebox.

Or, charge more and put it on pay-per-view.

On Fox:

I watched Seth MacFarlane's The Orville last night. It's a lot like Star Trek, only with a sense of humor. I like it. 8)

Right now on PBS TV is a Ken Burns series documentary on the Vietnam war. I am so glad I escaped that. But just barely, I actually received my report letter but had become a machinist apprentice like the day before and was deferred.

I've been watching it. Just a heads-up: it's ten parts, for a total of eighteen hours.

Is it turning out to be as clear-eyed a view of the Vietnam War as you may have anticipated?
I had been much looking forward to this series by Mr. Burns but have only been able and willing to catch a few chunks of it. It continues this week, apparently. I'll try to keep watching.

It seems to me that PBS supporters believe everything Mr. Burns puts into his shows.
