I would love to get a cab ride over that stretch of line!

I wonder how many trains a day they reset for?
They seem to be used to it.
Think about being a first time train driver through that.

I just learned, a moment ago, that train wrecks are COMMON in India, due to old equipment as much as human error, like the one that occurred today there. I wonder if any travelers were riding on the roofs(!).

The crowd looks good. The place is a dump. Where are they?

Or like First World passengers stranded in a Third World country, eager to get the hump out?

I can think of a lot of worse train stations to wait for a train than Deviatkino Station. For example...

It looks like it's gonna be a long wait.

Afghanistan is almost completely without railways. Afghanistan’s various leaders have opposed railway construction, fearing — with some justification — that foreign powers could use railways to threaten their independence. A number of railways were built towards Afghanistan’s borders, only to stop short of the frontier; Amir Abdul Rehman described the British-built line to Chaman as “A knife pushed into my vitals”. Plans to continue the line to Kandahar have been thwarted by civil unrest. Those waiting for the train in Kandahar might have a long wait.

The young lass in the first pic though very comely, is for sure not the sharpest tack in the box parking her arse in the middle of the tracks. Most of the people in these pics stand a lot closer to the tracks than I would. More than one person has met their demise being shoved in front of tons of moving metal by some psychopath. I have also heard RR workers talk about trains dragging debris that was picked up along the way, that would have wiped out anyone standing on the edge of a platform.

E,

Remember that the railroad is of very little importance in some of these photos.
especially those with young women in very high heels and clothing that some would
call unorthodox and others would think is normal. :D

I love the bright, pure red contrast against the pale blue and green tint in this image.
