Don't ask me what the celebration is about - but they're on their way to the Georgia St. Car House:

I never was quite certain how to configure that contraption on the front, but now I see how. Thanks! It always seemed to flop around with no purpose on this model of mine and I never knew what to do about it/with it.

Thanks, Rufus. Does anyone make an O gauge model of the McKeen motor cars?

They have been imported twice that I am aware of:

Kidder did them many years ago - decades, actually, in OH, S, and O. I have only seen the scale O one 1 time - pretty special since it was advertised as having a working clutch in that funky drive truck; several of the shorty 3 rail versions have crossed my path, but none recently.

Precision Scale imported them more recently in several paint schemes along with the trailer car. They show up now and again - there was one at the Indy show last month. No price on it and I did not bother to inquire - I've seen them sell as low as just over $800 and as high as over $2300.

The McKeen would be a very distinctive car to have. Many of the major railroads had them.
I'm surprised Rufus has not seen more. Is this an expensive model to build or is there not much call for it?

Roger, I wouldn't expect there's much demand for models of the McKeen car. I don't know if you roll-your-own models, but I think it wouldn't be too hard to make.

MTH could not get the numbers for it and it was canceled.

Plans for these have been published and the sides are not impossible; that compound curve roof is a bit tricky - real challenge is that front drive truck.

If I could figure out a way to make it work around my tight curves, I might be able to be persuaded,.....................but not at $2300.

What did being covered with those colors have to do with the tram service?

Exactly what I had wondered, also, Roger.

Different tram lines or different trams - color of the one shown seems close to that of one the bodies...
