Hmmm, another use for a PE 600 body. Especially of you do not model PE. A few minor modifications and, Viola!, smoking section to the right and non-smoking to the left.

Aren't there plenty of models of these Australian cars?

An Albany, Oregon streetcar pulled by a Porter 0-4-2 dinky steam loco:

Streetcar or just an older short coach pressed into service with the Porter?

Like all the advertising on the side of the car! Great detail to include....

Here's the source: https://oregonencyclopedia.org/articles/albany_streetcar_system/#.WcKbb7h1gSU They have a much larger version of this photo, that you can download.

The trailer is a railroad coach. It, and the steam dinky, were purchased in 1903. The dinky apparently didn't scare too many horses.

I agree about the Sternberg's ad on the car adding a lot of flavor. Note the bell, on the front of the cab.

Whole package simply has gobs of personality!

Let's me create a similar advert local to the trolley line that I pretend to model!

Ninth and Grand View Ave, c.1900. Note that L.A. did not yet require Eclipse fenders.

Might be a good starting point and they are relatively cheap and available with a little effort; now you also will need a true under the floor drive and side frames - the latter maybe from Q-car (trucks that you will have to disassemble), and the drives maybe NWSL Magic Carpet drives that you can install in the trucks.

Ok, now get on with it!

You begin flying with a full bag of luck and an empty bag for experience. The object is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

I would think the monitor roof parts would help, as well as the curved sides of the closed center section. You would have to build your own five-window ends.

I don't know what you could buy on a "Shop by Street Car". Maybe, check out some catalogs?

More likely it traveled through those streets populated by shops and one could get off/on and do all your shopping traveling about by street car. Park you car at the far end, catch the street car, go through town, do your shopping, return to parking at the far end of town and go home to suburbs.......what a novel concept,
