Re: Car Thread
To me, and I realize I am likely the odd-man-out with this, that Talbot-Lago is a bit too odd, too far-out, almost silly. It seems designed to be noticed, not clever at something. And I surprise myself saying that since I like almost every car ever crafted.
Re: Car Thread
Wow!!! sleek but are they hiding the headlamps in the two outer grilles?
Re: Car Thread
Not as sleek. But way more functional. My Dodge spit a brake line from the master cylinder to the proportioning valve. That'll put a wet spot on the front seat wit 2 tons of recycle and a stoplight
No accidents or injuries . it took a couple hours of bending and a flareing tool and 2.66 for a new fitting the top got reused the bottom was too chewed to warrant reuse and new brakes work just fine.
When I think of truck I picture this

Not racing but enhancing the event:
TVR Griffith.
Jaguar XK 120 with crew wearing period appropriate head gear.
Jaguar Fixed Head Coupe followed by Austin Healey 100-4.
A TR3 that looked just like the one I had back in the late 60s.

In the evening there was "rocker box" racing:
Alignment is critical.
Technological solutions to the rules varied.
Some drivers made agricultural excursions.
Gracing the airport was this lovely WACO.

Late MG Midget
'64 AH Sprite
Jag XK120 Coupe

Re: Car Thread
This was taken today on my day trip to VIR. I also saw this same car at Watkins Glen earlier this month. I never could get close enough the tell what kind of car it is until it passed by me in the paddock area today. It's a 1963 Ford Falcon!
Re: Car Thread
Last car my grandfather owned was a '63 Falcon...that was the last American car I remember seeing with a choke on the dash.
Before the Falcon he drove a jet-black '53 Buick Special...massive, it had these fake ports on the sides of the hood you could put your hand inside. Even as a kid I remember thinking the Falcon was a big step down from the Buick.
Heading home from the meet yesterday we ran down this couple doing the same:
Overcast with just a faint mist of rain, felt about right.

Looks like MGs on the Rock draws a pretty good crowd. I expect you had an excellent time. When you get a group like that together somebody will have the answer to your most obscure question. Somebody else will have a really entertaining tale to tell.

Always a good time, John. I'd say 90% of the cars are repeats each year, but then that's okay. Almost all are driven in (as opposed to trailered) which is nice. Just a bit too far from the house for the casual drive in the Sprite. We used to have a rule here which makes Sarge cringe...never drive farther out than you can walk back.
