Very similar to a church in my hometown.
Even the same denomination.

Methodists - probably had a plan book of acceptable designs to follow in the construction of churches,

So they had a method.

I get a strange feeling that this might have been an attempt to herald in the entrance of Gozer the Gozerian.....

Gozer the Gozerian?! What evvvvaaaah!
Or, a steeple may be intended to repeat the message of Gothic cathedrals, as do the pointed-arch windows, where their prototype first debuted, of hands folded in prayer, fingers fully extended, aimed upwards, the intended direction for prayer. (Technically, a whole Gothic cathedral is intended to remind one of hands, and even arms, folded in prayer, point Heavenward.)
Or. they be reminding some of us of the opposite direction where some of us might be headed after that last bad act.
Or, maybe they just look pretty, assuring us the structure is not a simply barn or stable (considering the location of that church, like many others in such locales.)

It has been known to happen on the rarest of occasions,
Gozer the Traveller. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldronaii, the Traveller came as a large moving Torb!

Re: Time for Church
You gotta watch out for those moving Torbs.

That would be wholly dependent upon your personal need for rectification.
