Really? A go-fund-me page? Really? One BILLION dollars. And then for guy with more money than brains, 200 grand? Wonder if he realizes that he'll need 4,999 more friends with 200 grand each to help save TOYSRUS? A billion dollars is 1000 million; to save a TOY company?

He'd be better off donating that 200 grand to St. Judes.

A superior idea.

A few things can be happening hear. 1 that $200,000 never really get's paid. 2. Toys 'r us started and fronted $200,000 to receive half a billion in free advertisement. If toys 'r us put up the money they get it all back minus a small go fund me vig. They probably pay 10-20 percent to go fund me. Basically $40,000 it cost them for all that advertisement.

I find it tough to figure out what children, nowadays, like to play with. However, I am very sure one size does not fit all. And I'm not at all certain if model trains are even on the list for most children.

P.S. Does BabiesRUs go when ToysWereUs goes ?

My understanding is Babies-R-Us and Kids-R-Us are both going down with the ship. Lots of folks out there with gift cards, store credits, etc., to be left holding the bag when this rolls over.

So who's next...I'm thinking Bon-Ton looks really precarious...

That is so sad, but true Roger. We are old foggies and don't allow any of that at our house when our 2+ year old granddaughter comes over. We bought a plastic kitchen that is a 4ft by 4ft room with open roof and two sides, with stove, microwave, sink, refrigerator, etc. for her at Christmas and she goes to it like a magnet whenever she comes over. Plays with it (in it) for hours pretending. That and a lot of older toys we've had through other grandkids. She loves them all. She'll get plenty of phone and electronic games thrown at her when she enters kindergarten.

What is a Bon-Ton ?

Mid Atlantic/New England dept store. These have been popping up and falling down for decades. Anyone remember Korvettes or Bradleys? Regional stores that tried to expand and thing didn't go well.

bon ton . First department store on rufus’s Layout. Well maybe not. They started in York pa. Under the Grambacher(sp) name. I think in SE. Pa they took over Hess and Bergman’s.

If there was to be a department store on my layout, it would be this one as depicted in some RPPC's many years ago: https://www.elmdepartmentstore.com/

We had Mather's department store here in Westminster. Founded in 1890, they lasted until 1996. My parents shopped there often when I was a kid. The Old Man used to say "shop local", so that's what my mother did. When I moved back to Westminster in 1985 I sent my wife there as well. It was a great store, sold high-end merchandise, so they were more expensive than other stores. Price, which is what drives the American shopping experience almost exclusively today, is what finished them, that and I think their youngest sales clerk was in her nineties, lol. Still have an old hunting coat hanging in the hall closet I bought in their sporting goods department...if I dropped twenty-five pounds I might be able to wear it...

So you want your kid sitting around on their *ss all day pushing buttons on some electronic piece of crap???

And take a look at some of the CONTENT of those electronic games that they graduate to when they get a bit older. I wonder if the violence in some of these games correlates to some of the psychos that are shooting up their schools?????

Between that and some of the garbage that is coming out of Hollywood, heaven help us.

Nope. Turn it around. Look at all of the people that are exposed to that material and how few actually do these horrible things.

Before the video games it was TV, before TV it was the movies, before the movies it was comic books, before comic books it was the pulps .....

It's always something ..... else. It's never the people that should have been watching the behavioral patterns and identifying psychopaths or high functioning sociopaths and notifying someone about their behavior BEFORE they snap.

We just had an active shooter training session on what to do when this happens. One of the main points the officer doing the presentation stressed was to pay attention to the warning signs BEFORE it gets that far. If you see odd behavior, report it. It is extremely rare that someone just snaps. The most common thread in the mass shootings was the planing that went into them.
