Just noticin' that crane is a railroad car and if you look beyond that locomotive, the main tracks are way down there. So if this operation was goin' on on the side of a hill, that locomotive might be a Shay or a Heisler,, both suited to rough country railroadin'. Pretty cool to get up on the hillside back in the day.

There is a Shay in the background. The boiler off-set to the left shows very well.

For a hotel that size it would be interesting to know if they had a dinning are and served food. Pictures of that would be interesting. 8)

I would think that they would certainly serve food and possess a dining area.

Apparently 1936 was a bad year for Pennsylvania.

They sure use a lot of bunting, to celebrate Old Home Week. And, a two-horse canoe, to boot.

It was also the 4th of July according to the dates on the card which is when I'd think that the parade took place.

And, a two-horse canoe, to boot.

4 horses - count the legs and divide by 4......and no boots,

It looked like two black horses, side by side, followed by two white horses. Thing is, I couldn't find enough legs, to account for four horses! I'll take your word for it. A four-horse canoe!

During a tour of the forge at the East Broad Top the guide mentioned a bill they had found for a barrel of number two mule shoes. He held his fingers apart to show how big a number two mule shoe was and went on to explain that the mules were a miniature breed developed specifically for low overhead coal mining. That picture was a perfect example.
